Softball Week 3 - USF Tournament

I know it's Feb, but at this rate, they are going to be a #2 seed and on the road out west in a Regional.

We should've kept Michele Granger on the staff, who was an Olympian and AA at Cal and who played a role in getting Abbott to come here in the first place.

It wasn't possible. Some NCAA rules on staffing and recruiting changed and the part-time role she had was no longer permissible. She either had to become a full-time assistant coach in residence or she had to move on. At the time, she did not wish to move here full time and take on that role.

Why look far... Madison Shipman would be my pick for the next head coach. Great hitter/instructor and fielding guru. Have a Renfro sister as pitching coach. What a dream team it would be.
Recruits would come just to play for them. They are well respected by coaches throughout the country and idolized by players.

Maddi is not interested in coaching again. She tried it out, it wasn't for her. She's very happy doing TV and starting a family. She won't even give private lessons anymore.

Ashley will be back even if she is not 100% I’m afraid, they will rush her back because they need to justify they’re big fat bloated salaries.

When players return from injuries is not up to the coaching staff. I've seen that over and over in this thread and it's just not true.

When a player in any sport at UT is injured, they have to be cleared for rehab by the team doctor (or ortho) and the athletic trainer for the sport. Then, as the rehab continues, they have to be cleared to progress to each step of rehab by the athletic trainer and the director of rehab, who is a member of the athletic training staff, but does not work directly with the sports and coaches. Finally, once the athletic trainer for the sport feels a player has progressed to the point that they are ready to return, the doctor and director of rehab each have to sign off on them being cleared for competition. The head coaches have absolutely zero influence over that entire process.

That policy has been in place for at least the last five years.

Think I would keep Parsons at the top of the lineup as the DP she is a consistent hitter and has a good obp would be my choice for the leadoff spot. I would probably play McCrary in the two spot because she has a very good eye for balls and strikes and really don't think a freshman should be your cleanup hitter. Ayala third, Seggern four, Shipman five, Milloy six, Morgan seven, Willingham eight, Holcomb nine. Of course Hannon, Webber, and Phillips are also going to play a lot. I doubt I would play Phillips against anyone but lefthanders she has a terrible average versus righthanded pitching. I would be about ready to hand over the third base job to McCrary. I think you must have your most consistent hitter in the 3,4,5 spots and although Shipman hasn't been that consistent she is probably going to breakout soon.

They have changed the tournament this weekend, thank goodness. 3 and 5 on Saturday which is still going to be cold. 2:30 and 4:30 Sunday with the ETSU game showing video on Socon network. and noon on Monday. I should be able to make the Saturday and Monday. I live a little higher up but with snow showers, wind, and temps it would be brutal for softball.

fire Ralph, 8-6 is just pathetic and the idiot ran off the best pitcher
The best pitcher is still there. She is just injured but is expected to be back before SEC play begins. This team is very young/ I honestly think they will get everything worked out soon.
