Softest schedules

Wow those Top 5 are absolutely pathetic. Who would pay to watch any of those teams play against each other?

Virginia Tech looked a lot better when we scheduled them. Sucks that they took a nosedive last year, but it's not like we were trying to book a mediocre BCS opponent.

For those who will inevitably show up touting the amazing coaching job Strong is doing at Louisville...

7. Louisville - Index: 1.63: No team in major college football has an easier overall schedule than the Cards. It's doubtful they'll face a top-40 team this season, much less one in the top 25. The non-conference slate is pretty tame as well. They open with an Ohio team that is coming off a 9-4 season and won at Penn State to start 2012. The Bobcats, though, are No. 98 in the country for most starters returning with just 11. After that, Louisville gets FCS Eastern Kentucky; then visits arch-rival Kentucky, which was 2-10 last season and then faces an FIU program that went 3-9, is in the midst of a coaching transition and returns only eight starters.

Same for Urbie and OSU. I would really be disappointed if I were a tOSU season ticket holder.

9. (tie) Ohio State - Index: 1.75: Urban Meyer has never lost since taking the OSU job and it's doubtful his Buckeyes will get tripped up in the non-conference. They have a cupcake opener in Buffalo. Then OSU plays a solid San Diego State team before visiting Cal, which was 3-9 last season and has little experience with only nine starters returning. The Buckeyes cap off the four-game run with a visit from FCS FAMU.

And Franklin is simply a winner.... errrm, I mean a wiener.

9. (tie) Vanderbilt - Index: 1.75: James Franklin's program has gained momentum beating up on mediocre opponents and the Commodores have four more likely Ws here. They get FCS Austin Peay, UAB, visit hapless Umass before facing a decent Wake Forest squad.

Apparently Bruce Feldman gets it.

Lol, UK is one of their opponents that make up their easy non conference schedule.

In the past we've beat them 3-4 years in a row. UK has been a cupcake in recent history, so I guess UL can blame that on us for making their schedule suck even more.

What's unfortunate is teams like OSU and Louisville will probably be in the national championship hunt because their W-L record while were getting **** on by Oregon in week 1.

Lousiville never plays anyone good during the season but their fans act like Louisville football is such a dynasty. Lol

Honestly Tech is never good, just good enough to play in a crappy conference. They're a perennial 5-6 win SEC team.

Yes we do. We also play Oregon, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, and the remainder of our SEC schedule.

Louisville's toughest game may be against Blind and Crippled U (aka Kenterrible.)
Fyp for clarification.

I don't think any SEC team should be on this list since SEC conference schedules are very tough.

I'll actually take UK this year. Stoops going into his first big game as UK head coach in Lexington.

There's a significantly greater chance of UK knocking off Tennessee in Lexington at the end of the year.

"Significantly" get real on a couple of levels! There is a 100% chance that the lower tier Cards will not play a team in the top forty all year long and as a result will get their a**** handed to them when they play a decent team as they back into a bowl game! You are obviously on drugs! Why don't you try a Division II thread where you can feel relevant!

Hmm...

1) The article says that Louisville won't play a Top 40 team; that does not equate to a "100% chance" they won't play a Top 40 team. I guarantee they play a team "receiving votes" this season and, ultimately, I think they'll tumble with a Top 25 team.

2) Barring a monumental collapse, Louisville will not finish the regular season worse than 9-3... and 9-3 would be a horrific underachievement. Louisville may lose their high-status bowl game, but they by no means will have "backed into" the game.

3) The 2013 Tennessee Vols are much more of a Division II team than the 2013 Louisville Cardinals.
