1. Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin has done a tremendous job. How so? The Vols can actually be the No. 2 seed in the SEC tournament. How? If Tennessee beats Vanderbilt in Knoxville and Florida loses to Kentucky -- both very plausible -- then UT would be the 2-seed, winning a three-way tie at 10-6 with Florida and Vanderbilt or a four-way tie with those two and Alabama if the Tide win at Ole Miss. That’s how important the sweep of the Gators is to Tennessee. What’s amazing is that the Vols would be leapfrogged for an NCAA bid by Vandy, Florida and Alabama.

i still don't see how we can end up 2nd if bama beats ole miss. doesn't head to head come into play. we lost to bama. just asking how, if all the games play out as they should and we win. some help on this ?

There'd be four teams tied. We lost to Alabama, but went 2-0 against Florida, and 1-1 against Vandy. That would put the record against all of them at 3-2, which would be better than any of the other records.

Because it would be a 4 way tie, then the tiebreaker would be games vs. the other teams in the tie...Tenn (3-2), Bama (1-2), FLA (2-3), Vandy (3-2), then you look at head to head between us and Vandy which is even 1-1, so the next step is record vs the next best team which would be FLA because they beat Bama...we're 2-0 vs FLA, Vandy 1-1...got all that? haha

Vandy would be 3-2 also, but then it goes h2h which would be a split if we beat vandy. The next tie breaker would be better rec against highest seed. Both teams 0-2 against uk. Next would be florida and ut swept them so we would get #2 seed.

That Miss St. win hurt us. We need for them to lose out so that we can take that 5th spot with a win against Vandy and a good showing (championship game) in the SECT.

if we finish second, yeah no shot. have to win sec tourney is it. have to have 20 wins, actually 21.

I wonder what a Florida win against UK would do to our RPI?? Sure the 2 seed would be nice, but maybe the RPI help that a FLA win against UK would bring may be nicer...? food for thought.

Definitely is food for thought, remember if we win and Florida wins, we can still get the 3 seed with a Bama loss @ Ole Miss which can easily happen on the road...not a huge difference between 2 and 3, just a nicer thing to say...wonder what the RPI would say.

Read the thread. It's a four way tie. We swept Florida, would have split with Vandy in that scenario and lost to Bama. You cannot use a head to head tiebreaker in a three or four-way tie.

Our RPI is unaffected by SEC east teams beating other SEC east teams. RPI is based on cumulative opponent records.
