Wow, GS. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think the issue with the whole Trayvon Martin thing was ever about a prominence of white on black crime. It was that it's allegedly looked over and not prosecuted to the point that black on white crime is.

However it does feed into the media narative that blacks are victims in a white society.

One other issue is why does the media senstaionalize some events and ignore others such as the sensational Duke LaCrosse team rapes (that was proven to be a hoax) and ignore the Christian - Newsom rape/murders.

An 85-year-old woman was sexually assaulted and battered to death by a home invader who also shot her 90-year-old husband in the face with a BB gun.

Nancy and Bob Strait, who had celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in December, were discovered by their daughter at their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Both the pensioners were rushed to hospital where Mrs Strait, who was nearly blind, died from her injuries.

Tulsa police believe burglars broke into the Straits' home either late Tuesday or early Wednesday last week. They were not found until the Wednesday evening.

The home invaders made off with their Dodge Neon, a television and $200.

Woodfork was later found hiding in a nearby house after a witness spotted the stolen vehicle being driven down the road.

He is being held at Tulsa Jail without bail accused of first-degree murder, burglary, assault with a dangerous weapon and two counts of armed robbery.

'This investigation is far from over,' Officer Jason Willingham of the Tulsa police department told Tulsa World. 'We've still got a lot of questions that we still need answered.'

Scholarly work? You're asking for scholarly work? If you're asking about pictures to illustrate the point, no I don't have any. I'm citing the book Drug Crazy but a quick google search turned this up:

Among 18-to-25 year olds, the 2009 National Survey of Drug Use and Health reports that 39 percent of whites used an illicit drug in the past year. For blacks, the rate was 34 percent. Some of these youth are experimenting with illicit drugs, and some are fairly regular users. The estimates for regular users are 23 percent for whites and 21 percent for blacks. This age group has the highest rate of illicit drug use.

What this means a bit more concretely is that there are about 5 million white 18-to-25 year olds who are regular illicit drug users compared to about 1 million black users. Given that there are roughly five white drug users for every one black drug user, it is incredible that nearly half of all people in state prison for drugs are black.

My guess is you'll keep believing whatever it is that you believe about the war on drugs.

Just as the war on poverty has put more people into poverty than it has extricated, the war on drugs has created more drug users, dealers and corrupt officials than it has eliminated.

Consider the case of Mumia Abu Jamal aka Wesley Cook who shot and killed a cop in front of no less that 5 witnesses, including a cab driver who saw the whole thing from begining to end. Saw Jamal shoot PO Danny Furgeson then walk up to him and shoot him in the face execution style.
