I hate to break it to you, but Strong is as good as gone. Everyone down there knows how strongly he feels about wanting a head coaching opportunity, and it's only a matter of where he'll go at this point.

Yes all of those teams are "down", but we haven't exactly been amazing either...I assure you other fan bases are saying the same thing about us.

I still think we pull several of the guys you mentioned though

It's a function of perceived trajectory. We make the case that we are at the bottom with only better times ahead playing lots of the new young talent. NC, Illinois, FSU and to some degree USCe may all be perceived as having a trajectory that is either flat or heading downward with changes ahead. Any recruit has to wonder how long Spurrier will be around and what comes after him, same as Zook and especially Bowden.

We offer a ground floor opportunity with coaches with great NFL connections for kids to come in and be part of something potentially special. The fun part is always the climb to the top and we always remember with special fondness those players that were part of that turn around.
