Did i hear some zone defense???? i was screaming that during the whole game vs Ole Miss

Wondered how long it would be before someone misinterpreted "CCM is considering putting in some zone next year" for "we should have played it vs <insert team here> last year".

dude if you watched that game there is no question switching to a zone would have helped us.

"Always committed to man, will study zone in summer time, won't do it because guy's can't play man, but to give opponent's a change of pace." Apparently, we aren't the only ones to notice. Said his "assistants telling me we have to play (a zone)."

I know this is a positive as it seams Martin is learning from his mistakes; however, am I the only only one that feels Martin may be a little stubborn? I mean every person on this board that watched the Ole Miss game in SEC tourney would have told you that we should have went to a zone. I really like Martin, but I hope he learns that it's ok to switch it up, especially when it gives you a W in the end.

I'll hold judgement on Chievous until I actually see him take the court against an SEC school.

Me too. I'm predicting he'll be a solid role-player a la Richardson last season. Eerily similar, as a matter of fact: limited offense, aggressive defense. Again, just my prediction.

Almost all coaches are stubborn. Too stubborn is making the decision to try zone in a couple more years, or making any necessary adjustments 2 or 3 years after you should have made them.

Not really - if we were really bad at a zone defense it certainly wouldn't have helped - which is likely because it's obvious Martin doesn't know much about it.

It's not like we would look like Syracuse if we tried to roll out in a zone.
