I don't think Pruitt's ever done as much as he preaches recruiting. I think we need at least one more JUCO or walk-on receiver. The receiver does not have to be super fast, athletic, etc.. Needs really good hands, will go across the middle, and make the money catches when 5-7 yards are needed. An outlet pass for JG when the play breaks down.
With the incoming talent at corner he may decide to move alontae back to wide receiver. He has almost all the intangibles. Great Speed and he looked solid catching in his senior season highlights.

Alontae flashed a ton of potiental at DB. I think that our WR are good enough. I also feel its a position that can improved in a hurry with young talent. I think having Bailey locked in early and having available playing time coming up, we should be able to land some elite WR prospects in 2020.

How many of our commits took and decline in rankings in the past 6 months? Were QC and WM not both 5* players last year? If these signees were not dropped what would our ranking be?
Q Crouch was the #1 player last June. He got hurt in the 1st game senior season and didn't play anymore. He changed position in the recruiting cycle so they dropped him way down. Dude is probably the overall best football player in 2019 class period. WM is a beast. Most have him rated a 5*. Needs to add 15 good pounds of weight and he will be a monster!

This class plus the two 5* transfers in makes it an amazing class! Congrats coach Pruitt and staff. Imagine what next years class will be now that Tee is back.

Go Vols!

No.

He's 6 foot with long arms and is physical. Very good runner with ball skills. He is the best DB on the team imo.
Not Bryce. But Bryce is also good.
But you don't take a guy with Taylor's measurables from CB after he has spent a season proving he can play it. CBs of his dimension are hard to find.

This is an incredibly moronic metric that’s dependent on class size. You could sign 15 five stars in a 25 man class but a 3 person class with 2 four stars would be considered more elite. Just proves there are lots of morons out there.

Ok but you could also sign a class of 30 3 stars that would rank higher than a class with 14 four stars and 4 3 stars. Or something like that. No one is signing a class of 3, so that kind of skewing wouldn’t happen

Gibbs was never a 5 star and I'm not sure he's even a 4 star right now. 247 ranked him as an 87 and Solomon a 95.

It's asinine to use an original ranking when a guy clearly isn't that good. It'd be like a team getting Richmond running around saying they got a 97 rated OT...I think he was rerated as a mid-80s guy.

As for best OL class, I'd agree. 2015 was really good too, but I think this one is better. Don't care enough to run numbers, pretty sure this one is ranked higher. Pray to god this one can finally avoid our lineman plague (Trey, Jones, Hall had health keep them from playing). We are due for better luck.

Gibbs was a top 50 prospect. About the same as To’oto’o. Or an even better comparison would be Alvin kamara. He was just inside the top 50 and went to bama. Never got to play. Went jump then to TN. You’ve might’ve called him a bust a few years ago.
It is intriguing because he’s been in a college s&c program for a found of years. He potentially wasn’t a fit schematically. Or could’ve just been the skill set of the others he was competing with for playing time. Or potentially...he was completely overrated. And we also got soloman. We should be just as excited about them as any 4/5 star direct from hs player.

Woah, no way! Taylor was one of the best true fresh CBs in the country, him and Bryce are gonna be an excellent duo for the next two years at least. 2020 we’ll still have Josh Palmer, Jordan Murphy, DeAngelo Gibbs, and Ramel Keyton, plus whoever comes in for that class

You replied before I fixed the typo, but yeah, I’m serious it’s a moronic measurement.
No. It is moronic to think a class would ever be that small considering schools aren't prone to self-destruct by not using all 85 scholarships. But the measure's real value is in the composite of a team. Even in your absurd example, if the other classes were over 50% blue chips making 43 or more of the team's 85 scholarship players 4/5* talents... you would still end up with that championship caliber roster he talks about.

Hopeful the transferring lineman will find a way to contribute. Gibbs getting his act together and giving the Vols something... would be one of the breaks Pruitt needs to succeed.

This is a great class and everyone has been evaluated to meet our needs.. our real needs.. not just rankings and stars and what will look good on paper. Pruitt knows what he is doing and I back him 100% that he will get up back where we belong. The 2020 class will be even better than this one just wait. Don’t think we are going to go out next year and all of a sudden be amazing. This will take time but Pruitt is setting a standard. His first real class finished looking pretty damn good! Can’t wait for the future !

Poor Kentucky (not really) best season in their history and still limp with a trash class.

Poor South Carolina with a head coach who has been there several years and claims he’s an ace recruiter still only lands a middle of the pack class with far too many meh three stars.

Poor Arkansas who’s obnoxious fans bothered to try and troll us, getting spurned on signing day by two kids they thought were shoo ins.
Poor Kintucky.😄

Gibbs was rated at .9770 on 247 and imo he hasn’t shown he was a bust yet. Maybe he was rated to high but he obviously has talent. Maybe not to beat out uga corners but he may at wide receiver. Just my 2 cents
I don't think we know for certain the reason he couldn't see the field at UGA. Absolutely, it's possible, and maybe likely, it had to do with talent; but, then again, with all the issues he had off the field, maybe he just stayed in the doghouse...see, Alvin Kamara.

Sometimes it is a will issue and not a skill issue. I know Gibbs has had some issues, here is to hoping that a new chance will help him realize his potential.

Vandy coming in with the 57th ranked class. 21 commits, 20 3* and a 2*

Things are swinging back to normal, FINALLY!

If you add Solomon and Gibbs that is 4 5* players in this class. I am pretty happy. This is the best OL class I can remember. That was our biggest weakness and now brings competition across the board.

Would like 1 more DL, but really can’t complain. 22 signees and sitting at 12. Signed quality in this class

I agree with everything except I would call dline our biggest weakness. And if we add Green to go with Solomon and the two other jucos, I will be insanely impressed at how well CJP addressed his needs

Wr may be our most talented position and we are adding Gibbs and a high 4 star there

Are Solomon and Gibbs eligible to play this season?
Not for now.

Also, we should slow our roll regarding counting these two as “5 star players” imho. They each have two years of collegiate play which in no way validate the high rating they were given coming out of high school. Let’s see what JP and staff can do with em.

Disagree on Solomon he was behind some off the best dts in the nation. That Michigan dline was loaded.

He was a freshman behind a first round pick and a 3rd round pick who would’ve been a first rounder if not for a heart issue.

Despite that Solomon still played 178 snap snaps and graded very well by pff
