Some Things I Believe

Why can't I have dreams about football games? It's be so much more entertaining.

You'd just be disappointed and more confused, you know ... because the dream didn't actually happen.

At least that's been my experience.

Devron will take four punts to the house. Two may come against AP and one against WKU. He will along with Pig take at least 1 KO to the house each. Plus Pig takes 2 punts home. Lefty talk, but I don't think most fans realize the impact of CBJ on the confidence and Can Do attitude of our players. While they're giving their all for Tennessee, they're also playing for Jones, a coach who believes in them and it's returned. haven't had this for a while at the UT.

8 return TD's this year alone?

You're high.

My questions with Auburn are coaching. By some magic, they continued to recruit well in spite of their coaching issues. I am giving Malzahn maybe too much credit... we'll see.

I have looked at USCe's roster. They have as many thin spots as UT. They have a few areas where they look to be weak.

I think both of these teams will be surprises. If Malzahn is a good coach which I think he is... they'll be better than expected. I think USCe is overrated right now and will miss their O playmakers and D losses much more than anyone anticipates right now.
SC has an insane D-line and experience at QB. Those two things will take anybody a long way.

I hope your right. Some things I see happening:

1) In top half of league in stopping run but in bottom half in pass defense.

2) Will run for over 200 yards a game as a team.

3) Passing game comes along nicely by mid season. Won't be a huge threat but will be solid.

4) Defense carries us early with Offense being better than Defense by late in season.

5) Lane and Neal both have over 800 yards.

6) P Howard has a solid year and is one of more reliable offensive players.

#2 would be great but I just can't see it, not against our schedule. Maybe if Hurd were running behind this line.

6) Palardy will punt all year, but DB will be the FG kicker by the 3rd game.

I'm going to roll the dice and say Palardy has a breakout year as kicker. I predict he will hit at least one game-winning field goal, and will hit at least two from 50+ yards. I don't see him breaking any of Fuad's records, but I think he will be a surprise. Kickers are weird like that.

I'd like to believe this, but after 3 years of the same garbage, I feel like we're pretty much into the "He is who we think he is" phase with Palardy, just an epic bust.

i am not sure i agree with this...i thought the entire game was coached just not to get blown out for the sake of recruiting and there was never a gameplan to win and we never took a risk on anything we just played to shorten the game even down 17 we weren't throwing or taking any shots...without the rare tebow fumble in the redzone that game was 31-7 instead of 24-14 and that game looks a lot different

I think the gameplan was to keep it close at all costs and take a stab at winning only if it was low risk near the end. Meyer wanted a blowout and did everything he could to get one... and couldn't. The talent difference at that point should have made it a 20+ pt game.

In either event, I think it was the best game Kiffin coached that year.

Those are your 5 losses.

I see us losing to Auburn as well. I know they sucked last year, but they're far more talented than UT. They simply lacked leadership last year. IF their new HC can provide sound leadership, look for them to win 7-8 football games.

I believe the fist pump will be short lived.. Sorry

I agree, I hope no one prematurely named their kid, "Fistup"...

Like Knox Kiffin. I named my dog Dooley but that was because he **** on the floor all the time and ran into the screen door.

SC has an insane D-line and experience at QB. Those two things will take anybody a long way.

Some would say the same thing about having an insane OL and experience at RB and in the front 7 on D. The problem I would point to concerning USCe's DL is their LB's. All 5 of their LB's who had more than 10 tackles last year are gone. Their LB position is similar to UT's WR situation and maybe worse if their Fr do not play well. They have nowhere else to turn.

You have illustrated my point though. We have a tendency to look at our own problems as much more detrimental than those of others. Many times we are tempted to do that in every day life too. I could not allow myself to be any more hopeful or less concerned if I were a USCe fan than being a UT fan. They have issues. UT has issues. USCe has issues. They have more recent success so people assume possibly without good reason that they will handle their issues better than UT....

So it comes down to "How good is Jones?" when trying to figure out whether UT beats a team like USCe, UGA, or Auburn or not. UGA IMO is ripe because of their losses on D but you will have to outscore them. Auburn has talent but some in-program discipline issues and a coaching change.

IMO, UF who I despise wins the East and they may not lose a game. Their only real weakness appears to be WR. They have depth and talent pretty much everywhere else. EVERYONE else in the East has some pretty big question marks.

I have only had one dream this preseason and it was not good. Dreamed with beat AP 21-7 and abandoned the passing game altogether against WK and ran every play and were struggling to gain yards :O

Auburn is one of the games where Jones has an opportunity to prove he can win games by outcoaching a good coach with more talent.

still wasn't a fan of that gameplan but i can see what you are saying. i thought south carolina was his most well coached game

If I'm CBJ, I have that game circled on my personal calendar. Whether or not he wins that one determines the entire season. It's the difference between the Birmingham Bowl and the Gator Bowl.

Yes, Beating Auburn would be Huge for Jones and definately show he can beat teams with more talent.
Now, the likely hood he beats Auburn is indeed very slim, unfortunately.
