Some UGA fans want Dooley

Few friends of mine who are UGA fans are ready for Mark to hit the road and they want DOOLEY. They think Dooley just needs more time and he's going to turn UT into a powerhouse. "He's a good coach" they said. After laughing hysterically I tried to inform them that haven't they learned anything by watching UT's shinanigans? UGA would be stupid to oust Richt, especially for Fooley

Hey, I got an idea... let's propose a trade with UGA fans and administration: Dooley and all but Graham and Pittman... for Richt and all but two of his assistants!!! :birgits_giggle:

If they want him we'll drive him down there. I cant believe anyone would want him. Could we be that lucky? We could kill two birds with one stone.

That's a pretty big blanket to throw, don'cha think? I guess fans in arguably one of the best football states in the US just don't know football like fans in TN. I guess UT fans know more basketball than UK fans as well.:whistling:

No, I do not think all UGA fans are idiots... just the ones would would fire a coach who has his team at 11 - 1 at the end of the regular season. Richt is a man of integrity, and he runs a clean program. UGA fans OUGHT to be proud of the guy! I wish we had him instead of Derek "Whiner" Dooley.

You have to understand that our fanbase has its fair share of loons as well. The majority of our fans feel that we should be able to compete with Bama and LSU right now. It's a valid argument but they tend to overreact like the majority of SEC fanbases do. Head over to the football forum if you don't believe me.

You are absolutely right. I grew up on the GA/TN state line, and am the only member of my family and community that is not a UGA fan. I went to UT because of Johnny Majors, Dr. Richards (business), and Dr. Julian (Band). I came to quickly love and appreciate the UT family... and I am a VFL! I try not to bash any fan base, only the idiots within them (and to pick on my brother and his family).

Honestly, it doesn't surprise me that a few drunk Georgia fans might think that Dooley could be a good coach for them. They see him as a Georgia guy and just want to pretend he's good. Look at the people on here who want us to give David Cutcliffe the HC job, because he finally managed to win 6 games in his 5th year at Duke.

It's a valid argument. The big difference is that CMR chooses to go about his business differently than Saban, Miles, and Spurrier. That is the main debate that goes on between our fans.

Mark Richt does business differently than some coaches (who I will not name) for several basic reasons:
1) He is an upstanding Christian man with very high morals
2) He is a man of great integrity
3) He refuses to lower himself to the sewage-level of others
4) He is a class act, and does not embarrass the UGA athletic community by word or deed.

I am not a UGA fan, I'm a VFL, but I do like CMR for the above stated reasons, among others.

Give me a break. Richt is a great guy, but lets not act like he plays the game any differently from anybody else.

That, sir, is your opinion... and you are certainly entitled to it. CMR has been at UGA for a great while now, and not even a peep about NCAA investigations, etc... I've been a VOL fan for about 50 years now, and I haven't heard diddly about Richt being involved in recruiting violations or any other type of scandal.

We may be Vol fans, but we can also show a little class. If not, BOOT me off VN now! I will still be VFL!!!

I live in Georgia and your right, everytime UGA loses a game their ready to run Richt right out of town

It's absolutely comical to watch. They've all forgotten the absolute slop they endured for literally a dozen years after Vince Dooley retired.

It's nothing personal against Richt. I've had conversations with him and found him to be as nice a guy as advertised. But he's recruiting the same guys that Saban, Miles etc are and in the exact same ways. Remember the recruitment of Isaiah Crowell and the "missing man" formation that mysteriously took place down on the field below Richt's office?

His players have also had their fair share of legal problems. That's not to say he isn't a good guy . . . just that he's no more or less "moral" than a lot of others.

This is either an outright lie or your friends got you onto Punk'd.

Only two options.

No other teams fans want our shatty coach.

None

Zero

Not a single one.

No team fires their coach for Dooley.

I'm a UGA grad. My wife is a UGA grad. Most of our family are UGA grads. My son is currently at UGA and my daughter will be soon. I've lived in GA all of my life. Why am I not hearing all of the "fire Mark Richt" comments? Whenever I want to hear "fire_________"(fill in the blank with a hotseat name), I look here an at Awbarn. :p

Seriously though, at the first of the season, many, many of you were saying that no one in the SEC could stop your potent offense and that the defense was stacked with the likes of McCullers, who was an "immovable object". You've played a tough schedule and, with the exception of a couple of games, were competitive. But almost to a man everyone here is saying "fire Dooley". Why not give him another season and see what happens? I think any coach deserves 4 full seasons unless they really tank like Chizik. And can he be fired after "winning" a NC just two seasons ago? :eek:hmy:

As far as Dooley is concerned, I think the guy can turn into a good HC. But I don't hear ANYONE around here saying that they would trade Richt for him. And you guys can't afford to fire him anyway, IMHO.

I'm ready to move on from Dooley, yet I believe he would win at UGA. If he'd had more talent and a good stable staff here we might be thinking totally different. Our situation isn't getting better fast enough to see how good he could be.

They are not serious. They are simply trying to show empathy to our horrid situation

I've lived in GA for the last 17 years and think Richt is a fairly decent guy, but also only a fairly decent coach and recruiter. jmo... but if DD somehow ended up at UGA I think he would pull in top 5 recruiting classes every year. There is no shortage of in state talent, and Dooley has proven the ability to compete with recruiting out of state talent as well. As long as he surrounded himself with some competent coaches, quite honestly I think he would be able to compete for the SEC every year.

I'm not sold on Dooley as a coach as I think he has much to learn. But a competent staff, and a talented and deep team which he would have at UGA, can more than make up for an average coach.

I kind of understand why they want to get rid of Richt. He is not clutch and he's kicking straight puppies when he has the best chance to go undefeated...

I wish they would fire him and take Dooley but then again I would hate to see Dooley win because he had everything he wanted. That would make volnation erupt with cries of traitor traitor...

What drugs were they on and can I have some? By all means, let Georgia have him.
