She transferred to Long Beach State. Even though I'm pretty sure she was a walk-on, she's a really good player and I'm sorry to hear she moved on.

playing regularly the last third of the season? As I recall, correct me if I've got it wrong, she wasn't playing a lot early on but then was a regular or nearly so as the season progressed. If so, her leaving is a bit of a surprise.

Tobler started 39 of our 55 games last season, playing 3 different positions. Overall she batted .323 and OBP of .430 but she improved as the season progressed, hitting a robust .362 in SEC play.

Yes, hate seeing Tobler go but we have so much talent coming in this year and next we shouldn't really miss her. Also, the three freshmen from this past season will continue to develop. We need pitching. Hope this transfer is good.

I know, and I agree...in general. But....how long have you heard that. JMO but maybe need to do a bit better job at personnel management. I think they finally overplayed their hand with Tobler.

so I wonder why she left? Obviously, the comfort level wasn't there.

You are going to get transfers at big programs when you are bringing in three or more top prospects every year. So current starters may lose their spots or will have to share time.

Thats exactly right. But that should be decided on the field of play. A kid that did that well would have thought "well you have to beat me" but perhaps that not the message she got from coaches. If it's not...thats a bit confusing and it's not consistent. Who knows??

Best Wishes to Haley and her family!!

On a seperate note.... Melissa Davin is in her final semester at UT and will graduate in December.

Melissa has been recently hired by Fresno State to start in January as Director of Softball Operations. Melissa wants to be a coach someday and this will give her a great start and some administrative experience....

She is going to be a Bulldog but will always be a VFL
