This link mentions the Sports IIlustrated article about the Last Lap. I remember something about the Top Ten best College Bars in the US and there was an asterisk after the list that said ** " Sorry Last Lap we don't rate professionals" ** basically giving the top honors to the Last Lap.
Every student in the Lap was taking shots of Jack Daniels. Boys and girls. The energy in that place was off the charts.

I thought that was OCI (Old College Inn). The Lap was just up from Yosemite Sam's. There was a bar connected to The Lap, maybe The Library?

The library was just next to the Lap but was a separate building and not connected to it. I remember when my dad came to see me in my freshman year and saw the Library as we passed by it on the strip. He said, "all those times when we were on the phone and you said you had to get to the library, I thought wow my son is really hitting the books, but now I know better" 😂

I remember watching R.E.M. there when they were not much more than a garage band.

Walk the West, and the Black Crowes too.

Ahhhh, the old strip. Dollar pitchers at the Library. Tall Paul outside at O’Charley’s. Anyone remember Ivy's?

Ivy's was pretty great to me. They would fill up my end piece of the '89 goal post for free whenever I brought it in. Granted, I usually had 4-5 friends with me who would drink too so wasnt like they were losing anything. My buddy, who was a UT QB at the time, always wanted me to put a handle on it lol.

I used to wolf down 3-4 chili dogs from the Smokey Mtn. Market in a drunken stupor after football games. Those were the days...
"GIVE ME A ROOSTER...AND CHASE HIM THROUGH THE GARDEN!!!"

"SMOKY MOUNTAIN MARKET...YEAH!"
