So I know all this hype and dream coaches are being named on here, but what does a realistic list of possible coaches look like? I know David Cutcliffe would be one. Can someone make a list of Top 5 possibly?

Gruden is realistic.

Deal with it.

If Cutcliffe, a guy coming off 4 straight losing seasons, who nobody else would even consider for a big time (or even medium time) job, is what is considered "realistic", then we should probably just shut the program down.

Santa, tooth fairy, easter bunny, no one knows what is realistic. Hart has his poker face on and we have no idea what we want to spend. I'm hoping a big name hire is in the works, but my head keeps think how UT does things and I keep coming back to Strong, maybe Patterson if we are lucky. I just have no faith in our AD office or school administrators.

Some of those lists are terrible.

It's a sad day when people think the best we can do is sign coaches from Northern Illinois and Western Kentucky.

I still believe Tennessee is capable of taking a coach from programs like Boise State, TCU, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Northwestern, UCLA... Tennessee is a better program than all of those. If they got turned down 6 times to remain at those schools, that's sad.

I would be happy with the coaches from most of those schools. But, Gundy in an OK State guy, I couldn't see him leaving for any other college job. Mora Jr. is a good fit at UCLA and isn't leaving after one year. I think you see what you can do with the rest. Mullen and Fitzgerald might be doable, but neither is a slam dunk and you would probably have to pay slam dunk money. I'd do anything for Patterson or Petersen, but I don't know if the moeny people at UT feel the same.

^Nope, don't need another guy with a losing record at a smaller program. Especially when there are lots of guys out there with great records at smaller programs.

Coach Ed "Straight Arrow" Gennero.

He took over a Texas State Armadillos squad that was devastated by sanctions back in the early 1990s. They lost numerous scholarship players, and had to play ironman football. After tying with Kansas, he led the Armadillos to a surprise victory over then Number 1 ranked Texas with his star 34 year old quarterback freshman Paul Blake and a female kicker.
