Something happening in Gators camp

Going into last year's game with UF I felt TN had a good chance to win the game (based on my assessment of UFs offense with Driskel). Unfortunately, Driskel was injured and went out early, his replacement was just what the TN defense didn't need - a QB who could run. Driskel they could handle but a happy footed QB gave them fits.

The TN defense is much better this year and my belief still holds that UT should win if Driskel remains the UF QB.

As an aside. I thought that Meyer left UF primarily because of lack of SEC talent on offense. He knew that would be two or three years of down years and did not want to take the heat. Ohio looked a lot better - loaded with talent and much easier recruiting!

The Muscamp hire at UF was a mystery to me. Why would they hire a guy that was complicit in the problems with the Univ of Texas program. Given the football talent in Texas high schools for the Texas program to be on a downward trend requires a lot of mismanagement and poor coaching.

Our luck is they will change QB and go to a strictly running game; and run for 400+ yaqrds against us.

We have been killed by the run in recent years.

Absolutely. UF will get exposed by teams with just an average defense.

So your D was below avg?

Fla still can run the ball vs most teams. Had success vs Bama but kept going away from it.

Driskel can beat you on designed keepers but he struggles to identify what the ends are doing on zone reads.

Harris is the wild card in this system. Wouldn't surprise me to see him get half the snaps vs UT.

If an improved KY team can take those knuckleheads to 3 over times in Florida then we deserve to be last in SEC if we cannot beat them with a 10 streak on the line and in Neyland. Just my 2 cents.

muschamp can't coach a lick---hopefully he wins 7 games somehow so florida keeps him around for another 3 years with a new contract! butch and UT will beat fla this year like a rented mule

Y'all have a overinflated sense of your team. Vols may win but y'all aren't Bama elite so that blowout stuff is too funny. Faf

The issue before Muschamp right now is what to do about the QB situation. Driskel looks great in practice, and he is strong and athletic. He has the physical skills necessary to be a very good QB. What he lacks is 1) confidence; 2) the critical thinking skills to anticipate the open receivers or to make the progression rapidly to find the best option; and 3) the respect of his teammates. No one is coming out to really say he's the guy and they have faith in him. I just think they realize his shortcomings.

And so I agree with those that say he's likely to split some time during the UT game. The open week helps with that.

The bigger problem in my mind is that you have a team that clearly has no faith in Driskel, and a coach who is either unable to see or does not want to admit he was wrong. He also surely is fearful that a new QB in there, a freshman, likely spells no bowl game and he's out of a job. So he's trying to manage the situation, get the necessary wins, and stay in control.

The problem I have with that is that recruits cannot like what they are seeing. You've got famous alum calling for a new QB, and current players calling for a new QB. And Muschamp spending energy having to reel all of that in. Its a terrible sign when you have the best receiver publicly saying he thinks his QB sucks. That just cannot bode well for the team moving forward.

Like others above, my thinking is that UF is going to continue to try to clock manage these games in the SECe with a ton of running plays, short passes only. We want scores in the teens, and if a team blows up for 25 + we are just not equipped to counter that.

I thought Muschamp was the answer, I really did. But the recruiting, particularly the skill positions on offense, has not been there and certainly the players we have gotten have not been developed well (though that is not totally his fault). The problem is that I see absolutely no chance for improvement as long as Driskel is the QB. There is no opportunity for fast and tall WRs to see a future for them in the NFL by coming to UF.

As long as Muschamp is coach and as long as Driskel is QB, Florida is just a lost cause.

Bring back Gary Darnell(1989 Florida Coach) he could probably use a job

I like the sound of Florida imploding from within. That is great news for UT. A divide in the locker room is no good.

What was your belief in 2012 when Driskel beat Bray and company... ???

Just to add the better coached portion and more disciplined portion. We have started the most freshman in FBS this year, (obviously), and have been penalized the fewest yards in FBS. Says alot about our coaching staff imo

THIS x 1000. CBJ has the young men playing hard-nosed, disciplined football. With a little more seasoning and another good recruiting cycle... well...

The SEC is officially on notice.
