Safety Craig Loston, a highly anticipated recruit from Aldine, Texas, announced his verbal commitment to the Clemson Tigers.

The Eisenhower High School player was heavily sought out by numerous big colleges, including Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and USC. Until this past Wednesday, Loston was torn between Clemson and LSU before giving his verbal to tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator Billy Napier.

This class of 2009 prospect is rated by Rivals as a five-star player and the No. 1 safety in the nation.

after last years class and that myspace pic of Page. Im just not buying it. Ive been to Clemson several times. It sucks and TB was almost fired recently so how have they turned it around all of a sudden? I'll tell you how, cash.

When they pull kids from Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, it really doesn't raise my eyebrows. It's a nice football school...and, in terms of gameday atmosphere, it's probably the best in the ACC. I can see why kids from that region would want to play at Clemson.

But, when they lock down a commitment from a 5-star TEXAS kid this early in the process, it certainly leaves me curious as to what exactly is going on at Clemson.

One thing's for sure - Billy Napier is an ace recruiter.

That is the recruiting secret. Promise recruits the black jersey. We need to employ this proven recruiting tool.

Meh... I would disagree. Saying it sucks is pretty strong.

But having said that, this is the school that had Danny Ford, who learned at the feet of Bear Bryant.

wasn't Napier on our list when we were trying to replace coaches?

What myspace pic with Page?

The one where he is holding about $20,000 in a bag in the backseat of a car.

You know i keep hearing 20k, but look at the first bill, those are 50s. That is Grant between his fingers, thus making it 50k, correct?

i dont wanna say the wrong thing but from what i know i bet he WAS bought. the clemson alumni i know have more than they can spend and with all their team returning they think they can squeeze in a NC. Clemson isnt under the big radar so they can slide in. their basketball wasnt shabby this year either:ermm:

Clemson is up and coming. You should have seen it coming from the recruiting class we had this year. There are a couple reasons:
1) Clemson does not "suck." It's not in a big city, but that is an amazing feature. You can also park without getting a boot on your car. It's a typical college town, but I can understand how some wouldn't appreciate it.
2) With all the national TV coverage how could we not being getting some national respect (Today's Fun Fact: The Clemson-FSU Labor Day game last year was ESPN's highest rated regular season football game ever).
3) There's money at Clemson, but we aren't known for handing over cars and money to recruits... at least not more than anyone else around the country.
4) We're flashy. High school kids like that.

Clemson is known for handing out money to recruits. The entire Ford era was built on paying players and the National Championship in 1981 was literally "bought."

What exactly is that Page guy doing with $20,000 or more dollars?

When I was a student at UT my frat went to Clemson every year for a softball tourney. If you arent greek at Clemson it sucks.

hey guys,
kinda weird making this my first post but i couldnt pass it up. Im really good friends with Billy Napiers father(my high school coach) i went with him to Clemson's spring game a few weeks ago. Loston was the biggest recruit there and we barely even saw Billy after the game because he was all about recruiting this guy.
Story goes that Loston wasn't even on Clemsons board because they figured that they had no shot at him but Loston listed Clemson as one of the schools he was interested in. Napier read this and went after the guy, and got him.

I'm not greek at Clemson and I absolutely love it. There's a great group of Christian people there that don't need alcohol to have a good time. Clemson is a great place to find that kind of fun.
