A song came on at work today, Don't Fear the Reaper by BOC, and everybody more or less immediately said "Need more cowbell!". I literally cannot hear one note of that song without immediately thinking of that SNL skit. As another example from the first synth note of Moving in Stereo I'm mentally seeing Phoebe Cates coming out of the pool from Fast Times. It's not just a simple association...I don't think it possible to electroshock therapy those songs from visually picturing Walken in his 70's leather jacket and glasses or Cates in her red bikini.

So anybody else got any popular songs that are absolutely, positively inextricably tied to some TV/movie moment?

Pete Townshend "Let My Love Open the Door." Baltimore Avenue, walking distance to North Avenue and GA Tech (the only Tech) campus. Basement bar...no in-house media in those days...but plenty of pool tables, darts, and 25 cents plastic cups of beer. My response doesn't exactly conform to OP but that song is hardwired in me.

Probably not that well known, but I can't hear the Pina Colada song without picturing Chris Farley saying "Street Fighting Man, G7!"

And I can't hear Street Fighting Man without thinking of V for Vendetta

Rush’s Tom Sawyer in Varsity Blues, and AC/DC’s Thunderstruck also in Varsity Blues.

"Dont You (Forget About Me)" by Simple Minds - When I hear this I immediately think of The Breakfast Club.

"The Power of Love" by Huey Lewis - I always think of Back To The Future.

"Tiny Dancer" by Elton John always makes me think of Almost Famous.

I mean I would hope these make you think of those movies since they were both specifically written to be in those movies.

Friends, and I didn't even watch that show.

Good nominations. It's kinda individual but GOTG just owns Come and Get Your Love and that Your Eyes/boombox thing from Say Anything is indeed iconic as hell. We just had another SNL moment at work with this one.

Everybody in the place started the sideways head thing.

It got popular because of the show but Far From Any Road by The Handsome Family is forever tied to True Detective
