YES... Coaches CAN coach speed. Fast players can look slow and slow players can look fast based on the system, technique, and being "coached up" in a system.

This is THE biggest BS excuse used for Jancek in '13. Guys were out of position and gave up leverage FAR more than they were outrun.

I never said my opinions are facts. My opinions ARE based on fact though. MANY who argue with me though are determined to avoid inconvenient facts.

Two people can look at the same facts and have different opinions. But that's not what happens here. Facts are ignored by those who apparently cannot handle the possibility that better talent will not fix everything.

No doubt about that. A team like Florida losing 8 games is proof of that. Hopefully, we don't end up in the same boat.

The Vols will be able to really compete when they recruit the talent to control both lines of scrimmage and run an offensive scheme based on the talent they have, rather than forcing the read option

In order to shut stj up with his numbing repetitive posts, please repost this post if you think better speed and talent is all we need and that coaching doesn't need to improve at all.

And when nobody shows, can we classify the guy as a troll or can a mod tell him enough is enough? Page after page of baseless, factless arguments about nothing. About opinions that don't exist.

In order to make me "shut up"... just acknowledge that the staff did not get the potential out of the '13 roster and THAT fact justifies a "wait and see" attitude rather than attacking me for pointing that fact out.

Soon enough(not), we will know whether or not we have the staff that can get us to a bowl game and where we need to be. 2014, we will have enough talent to be somewhat competitive to win 6 games. Excuses will be worn out.

I'm tired of hearing blind optimist sunshine pumper talk, or any "talk" about how improved or great we are gonna be. Nothing short of starting to see "tangible" on field results next fall will be acceptable. Butch has got to show much more than excellent recruiting ability from this point forward. So far with the exception of recruiting, he has underachieved. Instead of "brick by brick" his new motto from now on should be "NO EXCUSES" !!!

Those who attack anyone who says it and refuse to acknowledge anything except talent or "speed" as a cause for failure. Those who rather than just admitting coaching shortcomings will challenge "what would you have done different" or "what specifically did they fail on" then predictably ignore or handwave responses.

You have done this. BigOrangeTrain has done this. Do I really need to give you a complete list?

I discussed Butch and some of his poor scheming/gameplanning/prep. I dogged Bajak for looking clueless during many games and for terrible play calls at bad times. I discussed the wr coach for his players looking robotic at times and not sure where to go. I dogged Butch for his special teams work in some games. I dogged Jancek for his poorly disguised zone blitzes that leave a DE on an rb or have AJ chasing a slot receiver across the field in man coverage. I got on Willy for not getting the db's upfield on the quick wr screen passes.

And shockingly, I click on 3 other threads and he's saying the same things, arguing over points that don't exist, wrongly assuming stances of people who he is trying to debate, and playing the victim the entire time, while whining about namecalling in the same sentences as calling out someone's character.

i say this with all due respect, however, has anyone considered the possibility that the players are stupid.

they haven't known where to line up or what angles to take for three or more years now.

it happens in almost every football game played. NFL playoff games have illegal formation penalties, too many men on the field, illegal motion, wrong routes, bad reads, poor throws, busted plays sending qb's diving to the ground.
You just hope you have some talent to overcome player and coaching errors. When you are short on talent, they are harder to overcome and errors stand out even more.

You said that you had criticized Jones. I have not seen that as part of your habit... and find it odd that you get offended at me for saying some of the same things you claim to have said yourself.
