Halfway down the trail to Hell,
In a shady meadow green
Are the Souls of all dead troopers camped,
Near a good old-time canteen.
And this eternal resting place
Is known as Fiddlers' Green.
Marching past, straight through to Hell
The Infantry are seen.
Accompanied by the Engineers,
Artillery and Marines,
For none but the shades of Cavalrymen
Dismount at Fiddlers' Green.
Though some go curving down the trail
To seek a warmer scene.
No trooper ever gets to Hell
Ere he's emptied his canteen.
And so rides back to drink again
With friends at Fiddlers' Green.
And so when man and horse go down
Beneath a saber keen,
Or in a roaring charge of fierce melee
You stop a bullet clean,
And the hostiles come to get your scalp,
Just empty your canteen,
And put your pistol to your head
And go to Fiddlers' Green.

Ihatebuckeyes smells a bunch of liars in this thread, and challenges you all to prove it. He admits that he has no way of verifying your proof though, and will have to get his myspace buddy jamesbond007 to verify all claims' authenticity.

you like the Blackhorse, downtown Clarksville?

Lord I haven't been in the Blackhorse in years. I think the last time I was in there was in 02 after I got back from Kosovo. I used to like going to Kickers, but I've heard from a couple of my buddies that are either still stationed at Campbell or still living around Clarksville or Hoptown that the place has gone way down hill.

This is one of my favorites, Author Unknown:

I was that which others did not want to be,
I went where others feared to go,
I did what others failed to do.
I asked nothing from those who gave nothing,
And reluctantly accepted the thought
Of eternal loneliness ... should I fail.
I have seen the face of terror,
Felt the stinging cold of fear
And enjoyed the sweetness of a moment's love.
I have cried, pained, and hoped ... but most of all,
I have lived times that others would say
Were best forgotten.
At least some day I will be able to say
That I was proud of what I was ... a SOLDIER.
