Sound System at Neyland.

I've got it!

Since the stadium can't seem to handle noise from inside the stadium, why not have a floating, power controlled unit floating above the stadium that sent the sound down into the stadium from above? Kind of like what you see at the basketball arena but above the stadium.

Yes, I'm already hittiing the sauce on Friday! :)

Maybe on speakers on a blimp?

HAHAHA. Yea, I could do without the Kenny. I recall a picture of him wearing an alabama hat or texas hat. I cant remember. Lost all respect after that.

Chesney's a performer and was playing to the crowd there so he gets a little leeway on that. However 1. he's from East TN and 2. he shelled out the cash and produced "The Color Orange: The Condredge Holloway Story" that aired on ESPN so he made up for any hat wearing, imo.

That said, I'm not a big fan of country in the stadium either but I'd say many people in the stadium are fans of it and Chesney's the most popular performer right now. I'd guess (but it is only a guess) that we do have an agreement with him but it's probably along the lines of us getting to play it without the ASCAP/Stadium fees that are charged under a blanket or individual license anytime a stadium plays a song since he says he's a Vol fan.

Playing recorded songs does require the school to shell out cash to ASCAP/buy a license in almost all situations. So with the acoustics the way they are plus all the licensing fees and money pinch, I'd wager that getting the sound system just right isn't a priority. When we're cash rich again, it might happen.

As others have said, they could do well just by selecting different songs for the band to play at different times.

One of my best friends installed the stadium system. The speakers on the ground, which are the problem, are not phased into the rest. Cost prohibitive.

all of these problems end if Tennessee just wins. It's mind boggling how many issues pop up everywhere after all these years of losing.

if we get back to competing in every game or all the way back to the success of the late '90s everything will be perfect again.

I would love to be to hear the band in the pregame better than what we do. When Denton talks it booms over the sound of the band drowning them out. Does anyone else want the band louder. Of course it could be me and my shotgun ears.

In High School? :)

Seriously, I know many members of his family but I don't know him. I probably wouldn't know who he was if it weren't them. I just don't listen to much country or really much current music of any genre unless it's suggested to me since I'm usually listening to an audiobook or podcast instead of the radio.

It's not about it being a problem as it is traveling to other SEC stadiums seeing what they are doing right, seeing the positive effect it has on their crowd, and seeing how we can be better. I realize some find fire too progressive, but compared to other SEC stadiums our audio presentation is the sporting equivalent of a Pepridge Farm remembers commercial. That hurts hype with younger fans and student sections, and recruiting. Does it have huge effect? Maybe not, but in the high competition of the SEC every little thing adds up. Less excuses more get er done....

That Kenny Chesney song they were playing between the 3rd and 4th quarter was the biggest buzz kill ever. It sucked any life in the stadium right out. It seriously boggles my mind that anyone ever thought that would be a good idea and that once it was played someone didn't pull the plug on that idea immediately. I will forever hate that song with a passion.

Exactly I have seen fans up on their feet yelling psyched and excited, but by the end of that song they're sitting down hugging,
and in the mood to sip corn liquor on the porch swing....Don't get me wrong that is a good time as far as I am concerned
too, but not the vibe you want going into the 4th quarter. Kenny Chesney is an awesome performer, and a great VOL4life,
but that song and video are a buzzkill when you want excitement.....

I'd happily toast to it with my feet up anytime. But we need to have crowd pumped then, Gimme some old southern rock, metal,
hip-hop...anything. Let's be honest we could pipe in Gilbert and Sullivan and sing the Major General song and feel more hard a**ed
then the crowd does after that video.

It's like a carefully designed video by psychologist to ELIMINATE energy.

I'll kick my shoes off to it anytime though.....but let's not do that during the game.

It was played at Dooley's request, set to a video on the jumbotron.

Unreal. Was it played last year as well? I only went to the Kentucky game and I can't remember if it was played.

Please tell me we are done with it.

No, they played a tribute video to the seniors, set to Phillip Phillip's "Home," which was very well done.

Loved the "Iron Vol" video last year. Wish they had kept it in the vault til this year. A lot more appropriate for Team 117 imo.
