Whatever man. Jimbo had a losing record this year...he also had a national title and is 83-23 overall as a head coach. Looking at just this year is rather myopic.
As far as O's buyout, your figures aren't what I read. It'd cost you $8.5m to fire him this year. That's a rather hefty sum, especially for someone like Orgeron. And you'd still have Les's buyout to pay. Again, LSU was the only school interesting in hiring him. Why have such a big buyout?
For LSU fans calling for Ed Orgeron's head after loss to Troy, these are his contract details | LSU | theadvocate.com
It was around $9m prior to the end of the year, its now next year. Its now $6m, and after this coming year it will be $3m.
Why have such a big buyout?
Because he was going to coach 2-4 years away, if they didn't give him a buyout... you would be first one to say he is going to be fired after every loss.... you could then get on ESPN. This is why discussion with fans who don't even understand this doesn't go anywhere and is one of the prime reasons UT had a hard time.
I think overall Coach O has done well, not great, he's 1.5 years in. LOL If I were to go off your statements a person would have thought LSU went 0-8 this year in the SEC.
I don't pretend to believe Coach O will be the greatest thing since apple pie but he is doing okay. I can say he has made changes when changes needed to be made.... he had done a great super job of getting DL/OL at LSU... that actually started last year.... I think it will be noticeable by next year. I would give Coach O a solid B at this point, the team is going to have to get better next year or the heat will start coming.
The problem is your lack of logic. You say the AD is the worst, I think for hiring Aranda for $2.5m.... but paying Jimbo $100m+ and then hiring Aranda for possibly even more money is good?
Literally, if I looked at your statement, you would think LSU was Tennessee this past season.... clearly their were deficiencies but no the wheels didn't fall off the bus. If you are going to blame people for losses, you have to acknowledge them for the wins... or the discussion goes into the pit of hate. You want a desired outcome.... and mean, we are not talking about where they are at... its where you want them to be.
So.... what we have is Coach O wins its someone else's win, if he loses well that is on him. You want a desired outcome. Les had to go, and yes, I think Coach O is/was an improvement. There is a reason why UT went through all this - the firing is the easy part.
