Source: Tim Tebow named Broncos' starter

Did you ever watch Orton? And to say the Broncos are winning despite Tebow is stupid. The offense is built around his style of play now. He runs the option, which makes him pretty important in reading the defense and selling the run. The Broncos lead the league in rushing since he's been starting. That leads to clock control, which leads to a rested defense. 3 and out Orton had the opposite effect.

I'm not saying the guy is the QB of the future for the Broncos, but the hyperbole of a bunch of stat readers is pathetic. He had 8 attempts and three drops if I counted correctly.

That won't last.

Do you think that the guy has a chance in hell to continue running that offense and either a) stay healthy or b) continue to win?

I don't think anybody knows what to expect since most didn't think they could win any games running this offense and now they are 2-0.

Again, I don't understand why not. I will not question Tebow's ability to stay healthy until he's actually injured, and I won't question the offense until it stops being effective. And by that I mean, the Broncos are competitive in their division, something that wasn't happening without this offense.

And maybe it's not long term, but I get a kick out of everybody going from "they will never win another game," to "it won't last." The polarization continues.

No one has ever tried to adjust to this offense before. NFL speed is one reason it can't work, but speed can only go so far. Once someone schemes a way to stop it, they will, and this joke of an offense will be put to sleep.

This option isn't really about speed. Most of the runs go between the tackles of an offensive line that is dominating. You kill speed by running straight at it. Tebow isn't running around people. Neither was McGahee. I wouldn't question the ability of NFL teams to stop it if they were running the pitch option every play. It will definitely be stopped by certain teams, but that doesn't mean it's not at least an average offense.

Hence why I said it could only go so far. If they aren't getting to the edge, it is just going to be easier to scheme. You absolutely do not have to respect the guy as a passer, so it is simply a "did Tebow keep it or hand it to the crappy running back that he hasn't gotten injured yet" question. If he doesn't suddenly learn how to throw a pass, that isn't going to last long without every running back they find and Tebow eating their meals through a straw.

Moreno and McGahee aren't exactly beacons of health in any offense. And the Chiefs knew it was coming, and the Broncos still managed to move the ball pretty wall in 5 yard chunks. Not every team is the Chiefs, and not every lineback is Aaron Curry. The Lions didn't really count since it wasn't the same offense, 40 some odd passing plays.

The Jets will be a great measuring stick. I think they lose, but I think the running spread will have been more effective than neck beard running the aerial spread. It's not all in the stats, last year the offense put up yardage, but it also lead to many 3 and outs, a tired defense, and red zone inefficiency. To be honest, this run is similar to the 6-0 run McDaniels had when he first took over. A gimmick offense with average players leading to wins. The difference between this gimmick and that one, is that this one is actually very beneficial to the defense and just as effective in the red-zone. And Fox can coach defense.

That's the thing, the defense deserves as much, if not more credit than the offense in these victories. They passed the ball 40 times against Detroit because they got behind by a lot in the first half. If the defense can't keep them close in the first half of games, they will absolutely get thrashed when they try to throw the ball in the second half. When they play good offenses, it's going to be much harder on them.

Also, that gimmicky offense that McDaniels ran won a lot of games for the Patriots, because he had a better QB. If Tim Tebow was Cam Newton and could throw a decent pass more than 50% (being generous) of the time, I would be much more confident in his ability to continue.

I think it's obvious that against better offenses they will struggle, as it is inherent in anything that's better. But the running attack will be beneficial here as well by keeping the other team off the field. And just maybe you can keep it close until the 4th where running the ball takes its effects and Tebow seemingly plays better. Passing 40 times wasn't just being behind, it was the gameplan from the start, and a bad one as admitted by the OC - and some of that is Tebow's inability to throw, the other bad secondary and offensive line play. If the defense can't keep it close, there's about 5 QBs in the NFL who seemingly have the ability to play catch up, and it just so happens those QBs are elite.

I'm not arguing Tebow is elite. Neither is Cam if you missed last week, who struggled to come back and who's offense would be a pretty decent antithesis (btw Cam is better but I'm arguing offense here). Cam is in a more passing spread oriented offense. This has enabled Cam to display his full range of talents. But this has also led to more turnovers and three and outs (Too many three-and-outs doom Panthers - NFL - CBSSports.com Football). This has then led to keeping the Panther's (2-7)poor defense on the field for large periods of time. All I'm saying is while it might be a gimmick, it's actually a pretty good offense to win games when you are a talent difficient team. Unlike the aerial spread, which relies on playmakers and elite QB talent within the red zone.

My argument is that the offense ran through Tebow in the option is effectively gaining 5 yards a pop keeping the defense fresh and the opponent's offense off the field. Obviously balance is ideal, but if you are here to win games and potentially make the playoffs, this gimmick offense is probably your best bet with the current talent. And I fully believe the playoffs are in play here with such a weak division.
