Why would you ever do something involving so many people between quarters? Just a thoroughly hare-brained idea. If something is important to you, you give it the time and space it deserves. Do it at halftime or before the game. Better yet, have a single representative from each women’s team on campus so you’re only dealing with the logistics of 15-20 people instead of more people than the two teams combined.

Shane Beamer will be looking for a job after the 2023 season after a 5-7 record in 2022 and probably another 5-7 record in 2023 for South Carolina.

It’s ridiculous how much flak Beamer has caught for this. This wasn’t his fault. He was pissed that there was a large group of people on the field delaying the game. It was 4th down and his team was getting drubbed. Just so happened the people he got mad at are a part of the untouchables. You’re not allowed to yell at those people. Ever. At all. You’re only allowed to finance their sports with the game you’re trying to coach.

It is such an easy narrative to paint and that's why they ran with it.

"The football coach, who makes millions of dollars, was mad that women's sports were being recognized!"

Whoever organized their recognition screwed up; that's something you do in the pregame or halftime if you have 250 people. I was halfway watching the game with no sound on, looked up and saw them trying to get off the field, and my thought was "WTF?" too.

I agree

Their AD should stand up for Beemer.

It has nothing to do with being "untouchable"; it has to do with the idiots at SC asking all the female athletes to come down to the field then screaming at them to get off. It's not their fault the SC officials are so mind-numbingly stupid that they didn't think through asking a bunch of people to come down with no way to get them off the field quickly. Don't scream at the people just doing what they were asked to do, it's not like they chose to take forever to get off the field.

Yes it was the officials, but turning the narrative into "can't yell at the untouchables" is just as lazy imo. Whoever organized it should take the heat and probably the AD as well as the ultimately the buck stops with that position.

I wasn’t screaming at those people. I think it’s a good thing to recognize 50 years of Title IX. It was poorly executed by the AD, but I’m not going to pretend that if Beamer was caught yelling at (insert non-offensive club) the narrative would be the same. Go look at the WAPO’s article. It’s too good to have the male head football coach yelling at the girls to get off his field. Ironically, it’s the same people that write a hit piece on Shane Beamer yelling at the the women playing sports that are simultaneously doing their best to destroy women’s sports.

I agree. I'm with Beamer on this one. We'd be irate if this happened during a big game as well.

Wait, they asked them to come down, like over the PA? As in it wasn’t planned beforehand?

The 'controversy' aside, Shane is just like his overrated daddy, Frank. Resting B^&tch Face runs in that family, and Frank was the most whiny coach in the P5. VT had a generational talent at QB, the ESPN hype machine in full gear, and still managed to get their butt handed to them by FSU in their one game that mattered.

Beamer Ball is nothing more that what the General was talking about decades before. VT was a trendy flash in the pan program led by a mediocre coach who spent 3:25 of every 3:30 game whining or griping to the refs.

Shane is just like his daddy.

Unlike his Father Shane Beamer will be fired after the 2023 season for going 5-7 in 2022 and 2023.

Flash in the pan? Beamer built the program from nothing and won double-digit games 13 times from 1995 to 2011. He stuck around longer than he should have but probably is not overrated. I'm not sure Shane is one-tenth the coach his dad was.

Yeah VT was almost given the Death Penalty because of all the NCAA violations Bill Dooley had at VT from 1979-1987

No, Bobby Bowden built a program from the ground up. He took over a nothing program, played anybody he could schedule, and created a top-tier program without the hype of cable media. Beamer had a HUGE boost from the endless ESPN hype around Vick, and playing a very soft schedule for most of Beamer's time there. ESPN created that VT bubble, when they were almost relevant. Now, thankfully, VT is back to mediocrity. Both Beamers are overrated, IMHO.

That said, I have made a decision to be less direct on these boards, so reasonable minds can certainly differ on the whole VT thing. Sorry if my prior response to you was a bit harsh.
