South Carolina at #8Clemson

Lol. Ban worthy. Even Carolina’s best years they still lose 3-5 games. Beamer is a clown and nothing more.
They are both just in their second year at their schools and 1-1 against each other I think it’s too early to make that assumption. I’m in no way a fan of South Carolina or Beamer but he is proving he isn’t Dooley 2.0 like I thought he was. Beamer is 15-10 so far Heupel is 16-8 so pretty similar records so far.

Nobody believes that I agree. But stats say Beamer is better. And many would argue that he has a better job.

I only know one person that argues that. Regardless of the results of their past 2 games there’s a reason virtually everyone picked them to get curb stomped both weeks. Kudos to them though for having two unbelievably remarkable weeks but everyone knows who they truly are.

Until Beamer goes 10-2 and to the Sugar bowl, Kiffin is better.
I don’t think Beamer is the better coach myself. I’m saying that on paper, he has the better resume. Anyone can get manhandled in the sugar bowl. That’s not a plus. This all started because I made a comparison. Lane Kiffin has not proven that he is anything special.

Believe or not, I’m on your side in this argument. But I’m standing by my statement that Beamer=Kiffin. I have no respect for either of them.

As an offensive guy? I don’t think many would agree. His career decisions are absolute rock bottom worst ever, but if he gets to a decent program and hangs around a bit, he will likely do well. I’m having a hard time believing he has only one win over a team that finished rank. I think he had two last year.

I’m quoting a tweet from an AP reporter who was ragging on Kiffin last night after the egg bowl loss on his career record. I posted that somewhere else, but I’ll post it again here. I would assume he is telling the truth, but he could be lying. My whole point in all of this commotion is that Kiffin has still yet to win a big one. No one can remember one, no one can point to one. I have zero respect for Beamer as a head coach, but he has won big games on a few occasions. Kiffin never has. They are equal in the big picture.

I think Kiffin would do better if he actually stayed at a program for awhile. There’s a reason teams come after him.

Was he talking about Ole Miss, or just in general? Because the win at USC over Oregon was a pretty big one. I think TAMU was a top 10ish team when he beat them last year and I assume they finished ranked. Arkansas also finished ranked, I think. I’m not really sure the expectations need to be a ton higher at Ole Miss. Freeze won a handful of big games, but was cheating his ass off to get elite recruits. Before that, it’s been a very long time since they’ve been significant.

We have heard that teams have come after him. But he is still at Ole Miss. I have a hard time believing that he wants to be there, but I’m not him and I don’t know.

If I read the tweet correctly, and hopefully it showed up in my post, he went all the way back to his NFL days, and having not beat anyone there either. You are correct about the Oregon win, but that was the only one that the reporter could find.

Auburn doesn’t have a lot to offer. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bama went after him when Saban is done. I’m not sure he’s going to settle for just any job.

Family wants to stay in Oxford instead of uprooting and going to Auburn, a dump lol

I'm sure making $9m at a job you are 3 years into with a QB with 2 more years is better than doing a total rebuild

If I were him, I would stay as well. He won 8 games this year, and the school is giving him $9 million, and the fans are begging him to stay. And this is after losing the most important game on their schedule. They’ll build a statue of him if he stays. He has just struck me as a guy who always feels like he can do better at someplace else. Maybe I’m wrong about him, but he feels like he is better than Ole Miss in my opinion.

That’s kind of an odd thing to harp on. The Raiders probably didn’t beat a playoff team for several years before and after his brief time there. How many teams did he even play at FAU that finished ranked? He probably could have gotten some more top 25 wins at USC, but with scholarship restrictions, I don’t know. Just feels like a hollow criticism.

You are right on all accounts. I’m only stating that Kiffin hasn’t done any more than Beamer in regards to proving how great a coach he is.

I think he is better than Ole Miss. I said to a few friends from Oxford how Ole Miss always seems to have a very lightweight defense. All while Starkville down the road always has a stout defense. Olle Miss truly will never have a complete team but is capable of having a potent offense. I'm not sure why no coach hasn't been able recruit a decent defense there to compete week in and out.

I think if Kiffin wants any shot at the bigger jobs (Bama, A&M, Florida) that might have openings in the near future due to retirements or firings, he needs stability. And if he can do that in Oxford, he prolly buys some good grace for those AD's.

Kiffin is prolly good enough to consistently win 8-9 games at Olle Miss every year. Considering the all time win % is like 52%, Ole Miss will take 8-9 win seasons all day long. And with how much his kids love Oxford, they prolly have heavy pull in his decision. Kiffin has never been situated somewhere. This is prolly that job.

Eh. I don’t think that’s really true. He’s a top shelf coordinator and has had at least a season of high level success (relative to station) at three different schools now. He’s far from a legend, but I think if he weren’t already getting top end money from Ole Miss, he’d find someone to give it to him. I don’t think Beamer is going to find many suitors outside Blacksburg.

I don't know what rationale could be made to take a 10-2 Tennessee team over an 11-1 OSU team.
None other than SOS but it’s not going to happen. It’s frustrating to sit back and watch how **** these other conferences are those though. Clemson played 2 teams with a pulse and lost to them both. OSU played 2-3 teams with a pulse (both at home) and lost to one and didn’t handle ND rather convincingly.

He had that one good game vs ND when Lawrence got Covid but he’s always been an oddball. Not as bad as Kelly Bryant but light years away from Watson/Lawrence.

I liken him to Taj Boyd. He is strong when opposing defenses are out-matched, but can become flustered and error prone when defenses apply pressure.....
