option c:
vandy is comfortably in the lead for most of the game. then, halfway through the 3rd quarter USCe mounts its comeback. boom! td s. Carolina. boom! pick 6.

two minutes left in the game and vandy is holding onto a 7 point lead, but the momentum clearly favors USCe. the gamecocks march down the field and score a td with less than 30 seconds remaining in the game.

the camera pans over to the s. Carolina sideline. the ole ball coach scratches his head, squints his eyes as he looks up at the scoreboard, and raises two fingers. USCe is going for two to take a 1 point lead. hand off to lattimore who goes up and over! the conversion is good!

vandy fans are disappointed. they look over at their sideline. frankin is fired up and yelling, "it's not over! it's not over!" the 'dores regain a bit of optimism. "maybe we'll take the kickof to the house!" "if only we return the kickoff in field goal range!" the possibility of a miraculous win consumes the commodore faithful. "we can do this!," they tell themselves.

as the s. Carolina kicker takes one, then two strides toward the tee, the vandy special teams begin to drop back into their blocking scheme. vol fans watching the game think to themselves, "they didn't wait for the kicker to kick the ball. we did that in 2009 against Alabama. that resulted in an onside kick!" sure enough, the wily ole ball coach had one more trick up his sleeve coach frankin.

s. Carolina recovers the onside kick and kneels out for the victory.

vandy goes on to a 0-12 record. the "a.d." extends frankins contract for 10 more years

The feeling I would have coming into work that Friday would be amazing if Vandy just beat the Cocks the night before....it wouldn't last long though because I would start worrying that i spoke too soon, heading into our showdown with NC St.

Please let Candy beat the Cocks and the Vols beat the Pack.

Best start to the season I could ever imagine.

The fans here would be jumping off the Ravenel bridge!

If we lose twice to OU today, you might get to experiencr said bridge jumpings.

I'm somewhat tempted to make the drive from Knoxville to Nashville for this and head to Atlanta the next night. Would be a nice 1-2-3 (my friend has free tickets to Auburn/Clemson if he wants them) opening weekend, no?

Anyway, I'd love to see Sakerlina destroy Vandy and shut Franklin up for, I don't know, a minute or two.

Dooooooo it. That'd be a sweet weekend

I pull for Tennessee & anybody that plays USCjr. Only exception would be if a USCjr win could somehow help the VOLS but it would still be hard. FYI as a Byrnes alumn I wish Lattimore the best & hope he gets 500yds a game but they lose the game.

As much as I hate Vandy, I want them to beat SC. That helps us in the race for the east. We WILL beat Vandy, but SC is a toss up.

Are any of the Sunday games this year worth watching? I might convince our group to take a Six Flags trip that day if not. We've got Monday off anyway, so why not?

If Vandy beats SC, isn't it reasonable to assume that they will be good enough to beat us too? I don't follow you...

I wouldn't say it's reasonable to assume that. At least, not this early in the year when nobody has played yet. Just because a team wins a game, does not mean that they are a better team. It means they scored more points that the other team that day.

USCe would probably beat Vandy 95 out of 100 times with the teams they currently have, but that still leaves five games out there. Any given Saturday...it's a beautiful thing.
