Through 6 games thus far, USC has shown some of the best WR depth they have had for many years, even before Spurrier's time. In the best years, USC has had 2 really solid, consistent WRs, such as Rice and McKinley, or Jeffery and Gurley, or perhaps Ellington and Sanders last season. Then the rest would be a bunch of token 1-reception per game guys that would end up with around 200 receiving yds at the end of seasons.
A lot of the years at USC there were just one true "go-to" WR, such as McKinley in 2007 and 2008, or Jeffery in 2011. They would get support from other positions such as RB or TE...
This season, USC has 4 legit "go-to" type WRs to throw to. Ellington with 21 rec. for 332 yds (15.8 ypc) and 3 tds, Jones with 18 rec. for 191 yds (10.6 ypc) and 3 tds, Byrd with 15 rec. for 263 yds (17.5 ypc) and 2 tds, and Roland with 8 rec. for 161 yds (20.1 ypc) and 1 td. Roland was USC's leading receiver when he was suspended for 3 gms after their 3rd game of the season.
And USC still has receiver targets elsewhere, with Davis leading the SEC for RBs in receiving yds with 15 catches for 185 yds. Both TEs Anderson and Adams have combined for 14 receptions for 208 yds (14.9 ypc), although no tds yet.
USC's passing offense won't blow anyone's doors off, but they are pretty efficient and have multiple targets to throw to and spread out opposing coverages. USC won't just try to force balls into one guy that's heavily covered like in seasons past...
