"It wasn't a great atmosphere. It was really kind of unhealthy if you will," Sterk told "The Big Show" on KTGR radio. "We had players spit on and called the N-word and things like that. It was not a good environment. And unfortunately I think Coach Staley promoted that kind of atmosphere, and it's unfortunate that she felt she had to do that."

Staley is the Scumbag.

Neither school is without blame. What happened at SCAR started at Mizzou. Pingeton might call Mizzou's style of play "physical" but sometimes, it goes beyond that. If refs don't dial it back, players are going to get hurt.

Why is there so much venom toward Staley here? She has been very supportive of Holly in coming to her defense from national criticism, although I have my own theory about that...

Black advancement triggers hate. Dawn Staley, an African-American woman, has taken a cellar dweller to a national title, as well as the national leader in attendance. Her program is advancing while others are declining...

The mere suggestion that Staley, an African-American, promoted an atmosphere that led to an opposing player being called the N-word, is not only highly offensive, it’s ignorant.

if Staley was white and had done just as well coaching against the other SEC teams she'd be just as "disliked" . imho We don't like getting beat.

why no hate for the Auburn or Georgia coaches yet? They haven't won anything yet.

When they start kicking everybody's asses, they'll get some heat.

Why try to make everything about race? People hate on Pingeton, too. And Geno. Holly gets tons of it. Some posters hated on Tyler. A few have even hated on Pat. Venom gets sprayed in all directions.

Has an athletic director accused those coaches of creating an atmosphere that led to opposing players being called a derogatory racial term?

This isn’t about drunk or ignorant fans. Every team has those. It’s about someone in a position of authority totally disrespecting a coach and calling her character into question.

What the Mizzou AD said was bush league. Few agree with it or find it acceptable. A retraction and an apology won't make it right. But it was about more than race. The SCAR crowd booed at Cunningham all night and called her derogatory terms. If fans spit at Mizzou players and coaches, they were spitting at people of all colors. None of it has any place in sports and it shouldn't be swept under the rug. But I think it's wrong to label it racial when it's a broader issue.

Were you at the game to here her called names? If so what did they call her? Booing someone is apart of sports...

Spitting has NO place at all ANYWHERE! Totally agreed but let’s not also forget that the disrespectful fans were first reported in Mizzou when SCs players were labeled “thugs” or had “thug tactics” when it’s a predominately black team can you see where it may be considered racial when fans use that type of derogatory language. I’m not trying to make it racial either but trying to see both sides of the coin. I can’t say it is racial but I am also not going to say it isn’t for some people. I just can’t get past spitting on someone probably one of the most disrespectful things someone can do to another human being basically saying their nothing! Never been spit on but that’s my fear because I would absolutely lose it!

What's sad about it is the hate gets broadcast by the anonymous so it is rampant in forums. No one is held accountable for what they say. No one appears to worry about things like slander, character assassination, etc...

You can just get a username and flail away at people and organizations without regard to common decency or law. Some people make usernames to take on the personna they want to portray like the evil villain then go on the forum to create controversy and mayhem. I guess that makes them feel important and satisfies something missing from their real life.

Someday, the rule of law will be brought to the Internet but until then, we will have to put up with the immature spreading hate.

I know people who were at the game, so yes. And spitting on people is inexcusable, right up there with having UF fans throw piss balloons-- something UT fans have experienced at The Swamp.

In fairness, both sides were disrespectful-- some more than others-- and escalated an ugly situation that began at Mizzou and carried over to SCAR.

Mizzou doesn't seem to like UT any more than SCAR. They'll play as rough as the refs allow. Cunningham will manhandle Nared, if Nared doesn't give as good as she gets.

Nared shouldn't be playing the four. Out of position. Poor gal getting
her butt kicked in that position.
There need to be a line up change.
Let Green start at the four and Nared back up Davis.
Problem solved.

The great dawn staley's team is down by 29 points at half time.

The thuggeroos are getting they butts beat and could not have happened to a finer gang! She will now botch cause she was distracted by all the bullshot these last few days and her gang was tired from Mizzzous beatdown!!:yahoo:

I have all but hated GA for his cheapness toward Pat but this thug leader moved ahead of him a large amount.JMHO

I never ever want UConn to win except for tonight. I can't even stand to watch Staley. She is so cocky. I never thought I would dislike any one more than Geno.
Mizzou will rip us a new one. They play so hard. I am afraid Cunningham will wear Nared out. Cunningham seems to be a bit of a smart arse, also.
