I went to SC the year Dobbs beat them last minute.

Cold rainy tailgate but had fun. Stadium sucks and is in the middle of an industrial area. It’s not in campus.

Almost got in a number of fights after we won trying to leave. They have some drunk aggressive fans. Maybe we do too though.

I might go this year though. Seats are reallly cheap compared to home games right now and I’m off. It’s about the same distance for me to go there as it is to go to Knoxville.

Between sandstorm and that rooster call it’s pretty comical. Although kinda sad they think it’s at the level they think it is.

Yeah, as many others have mentioned there’s not much…unless you want to go to a meh zoo. Last time my wife and I went we stayed in Greenville and had a nice time. Good food, walked around downtown and the river, went antiquing. Very nice city.

I clicked into this thread thinking, "I've never heard anyone say anything nice about SC's stadium and Columbia." I still haven't.

The funny part to me is, if you wander over to one of their forums, they truly think Williams-Brice is an elite-level stadium, the gameday atmosphere in Columbia is #1 in the country, and playing sandstorm every 5 minutes counts as tradition.
They also think the team entrance using prerecorded music, smoke and a guy in a chicken costume behind a shower curtain is the greatest entrance in all of sports.

Lived there 2 years when I was a Drill Sergeant.

Rioz Brazilian Steakhouse (I think it's in Irmo IIRC, outer Columbia). I'd recommend staying in Irmo. Five Points area isn't bad (where the basketball arena is).

There's absolutely nothing by the stadium.

I live in West Columbia but am having a hard time of coming up with much of anything to do in Columbia. The only attraction I can think of thats worth doing in Columbia is probably the Riverbanks Zoo.
That really is a great zoo.

The area around the stadium isn’t great, but WB actually is a good place to watch a game.

As others have stated, Columbia isn't a tourist town.

Shealy's BBQ in Batesburg-Leesville is pretty good. I go there whenever I get the chance. The Big Mo is a drive-in movie theater nearby in Monetta. It should be open through the end on November.

Maurice's BBQ is good too, and its a little closer, but Shealy's is a buffet so it is a better deal.

If you have kids, Eudora Farms safari is open year round. You drive through and feed the animals (zebras, ostriches, lamas, giraffes, etc). They also have a walk through that you can feed the giraffes if they are out at the time. We go there a couple times a year. Its not too far from Columbia, depending on where you stay.

Downtown has the SC State museum. It's enjoyable and not too expensive.

If you like to drink, '5 points' is sort of downtown near USC. The Skyline is more of a country western bar, its next to the airport.

I would agree that you should go to Charleston, but at this time of year the beach won't be much fun.
