It's amazing to think about the number of previous UT coaches who have went on to coach at USC. We were all upset when Wilcox bolted, but I'm sure he saw the inevitable demise of the Doofus. However, I do hope Wilcox fails at Tennessee West just like all of the other coaches who have ended up there after they left the beloved Rocky Top.

Go Vols! Risetothetop (soon please)

Coaches come and go, I suppose. But when I saw your thread title, my first thought was...

I wish Tennessee East had a list of Heisman Trophy winners like Tennessee West.

You realize Oskie Volum will hunt you down and whoop you for your Dooley comment, don't you?

If you will recall, during the week of game preprations against UNC, rumors were flying that Wilcox was leaving the program. In an interview, he denied it!

However; a full 12 months later, he was gone.

My point is that even back then, there were visible signs that things weren't good between him and Dooley.

I still think that the linebackers coach, Lance, at the time, should have been promoted to defensive co ordinator. Hell, there is no way he would have been worse than Sal.

The linebackers coach ended up returning to Alabama, when he wasn't even interviewed for the defensive co ordinators job.

So saying a man coached at Tennessee is equivalent to saying a man was raised in East Tennessee?

You seem to be very butthurt and upset that he coached here for a couple of years and then wanted to get back to where he was more comfortable. He had to coach under Dooley and I dont blame him for one second for leaving that cluster**** of a staff.

Why would anybody hold anything against Wilcox? He made the best out of an awful defense while he was here.

Sad to have that much hate.

I can't really hold anything against anyone for jumping off the sinking ship that was Dooley. That said, of course I hope Wilcox fails. I hope every coach everywhere that isn't UT fails.

Wilcox would have saved Dooley. With the O UT had last year and nothing more than a repeat of the year before from Wilcox, UT would have been in contention for the SEC. I hate USC but nothing other than respect for Wilcox.

I'd trade him for what UT has in about half a second.

The staff was actually pretty good. The HC proved to be the weak link.
