What SpaceX has been able to accomplish in the 12 years since first making orbit is nothing short of amazing. They really have shaken up the launch market.
They are literally running laps around the competition at this point. Including the giant Boeing.

Well, I wasn't planning on mentioning Boeing...

But they really don't have much to show after spending $4.6 billion on their crewed vehicle. As well as massive cost overruns on the SLS (which is expected) on their part.

It's almost past time for NASA to start looking at other companies for the next round of commercial contracts.

On a side note, I know he's already committed to leave NASA, but Biden/Harris needs to do whatever they can to keep Bridenstine around after January. I understand his reasoning for leaving, but he really has been the driving force behind a lot of good things at NASA including making sure the Commercial Crew program stayed on track (except for Boeing). he really has been an asset to the Agency even though he's not a scientist or astronaut that's formerly filled the role.

The government should be looking at the results here and trying to cross them over to the DoD procurement model. Building an entire space launch system is at the level of difficulty of developing a major weapon system.

💯 agree on Bridenstine!

Boeing has scheduled a 2nd test flight of Starliner for sometime in late January. They still have the first crewed flight scheduled for July.

And I could get used to seeing these launches every couple of months.
Crew-2 is scheduled for March 30th. Which will be Piloted by Megan McArthur wife of Bob Behnken who was aboard the DM-2 test flight earlier this year.

Late next year we will have the first non-NASA Crew Dragon launch.
Internet rumors that one of them is Tom Cruise. 🤔

You are a lucky guy LG.

I really want to take my (teenage) kids to a launch...preferably at night. SerIously want to make this happen in the next year or 2. Bucket list type thing.

Its great !! Wish I hadn't made that wrong turn that cost me 5 minutes on the way there. I'd have made it to the water and really thats the best place to see launches.

The best part is when you watch from one of the bridges nearby, especially at night. It goes up and lights up the whole sky. Then 5 seconds or so later you hear the sound and the rumble.

If you plan to go just make sure everyone is prepared for the likelihood it will be postponed. Thing is, you don't know if its for an hour, a month, or something in between. So you may miss it and its just part of the deal.
