I know he was working on Raptor V2 and perhaps there's a snag in that line? Plus, one of his senior people just resigned and they happened to be in charge of production. So... maybe they were not telling Elon the truth?

I watched a YouTube video which basically explained it that between Starlink costing a butt-ton of money and the testing regime of Starship, they'll need a whole lot more engines than they currently have. Basically the test shot for the first orbital flight will end up costing them nearly 40 engines in one flight. Now, multiply that by a rigorous flight testing schedule (or failures and destruct testing) and you can see why they really need a big stockpile of Raptors ready to go.

However, I'll say it anyone can get it back on track, it'll be SpaceX.

Exploring space doesn't just mean exploring what is "out there". IMO it means exploring the entire universe which includes sub atomic space and all of its contents. Actually confirming and seeing the Higgs boson decay into the particles predicted by the standard models of the sub atomic universe is a pretty big deal. These findings are another step toward understand how the Higgs boson gives or endows mass to all fermions which are the building blocks of all matter. Of course the ultimate goal, and the effort may be futile is to understand the physics of how the universe came to be.
