the astonauts landing on a barge?
Starship as currently configured does not have sufficient hörmal protection for reentry at the 25,000 mph speed experienced by spacecraft returning from the moon. So until that is added, astronauts can only return on Orion which does have a jet shield designed for those speeds

I would never trust human return with a vertical ship landing.

Great video of the RUD.

Still not sure if it exploded due to the leak itself or if the engine losses pushed it outside the flight path and the FTS detonated. If it was FTS they might want to change the rules for how long into the flight it should be active. When it was heading over the Turks and Caicos it would be over water for several thousand miles. It might have been better to have it come down in one piece instead of create a gigantic debris cloud that was risky to aviation

What a headline! Do you really think SpaceX wasn't going to look into it?

Apparently, some commercial airlines expressed concern about the debris even though the break up was entirely within the NOTAM area.

Though I believe I saw certain NOTAMs are more of a "FAFO" thing rather than a hard "don't fly here or else" rule like it is with certain areas. (Think White House, Area 51, etc)

@SpaceCoastVol and our other pilots can likely expand on this if I read the information on the NOTAM incorrectly.

I only vaguely recall seeing this Crew Dragon mission in the news last year but it apparently is launching in a few weeks, funded by a Bitcoin entrepreneur.

Seriously. Elon has more incentive to find out what went wrong than anyone else. Everyone in media seems to be skipping over the fact that this was a brand new design with all kinds of changes including plumbing

The year’s 3rd lunar lander:

The Blue Origin Blue Moon lander’s pathfinder mission may launch later in the year. It is their cargo lander for NASA.

I sincerely hope that Elon doesn’t get distracted too much by his (entirely necessary) work with DOGE and take his eye off Starship and Mars.
We are on the cusp of one of the biggest leaps in the history of humanity (becoming an interplanetary species) and almost everything else pales in comparison
