Remember when they lost to a 4 win Iowa State team a couple years back in the last game of the season while they were a sure bet to play in the title game if they won.

That was funny.

Still, they are clearly the better team. We just need to be the better team on Saturday for a few hours. We have a slim chance if you ask me, but at least there is a chance. I'll be watching, expecting the worst and hoping for the best!
You guys are playing OU not OSU.

Guys (and Ladies) I'm sorry, but Stoops will not overlook Tennessee. If anything, cuz of his hate for the SEC, he is drilling his guys harder than ever. I truly believe he will want to destroy us so at the end of the season, he can show on his resume where he dismantled a team from the great SEC. I believe we can win this game, but the odds are very slim. We are a developing program going against a program that's been strong for years now.

Anything could happen though? Right?

yes

they got to play the game come Saturday night and the out come is never written in stone,I do believe Stoops has this as a must win big time against the SEC

he forgets who Tennessee is, have the Vols been down ? yes

are they on the up swing ? yes

so i do believe there is a chance that the Vols pull off a big upset? yes

Go Vols

I've said elsewhere that I think the 21 point spread is generous. People keep looking for comparisons to give hope. There really is no need for a comparison- lesser football teams beat better teams all the time, especially in college. And so we have hope because we get to play the game.

All that said, the example that stands out to me as giving hope is the fact that VT went to OSU and won. It was a road game. It was just last week. And while Oklahoma is better than OSU, we are about that much better than VT. Anyway, insofar as one can say such things as these and believe they are actually meaningful, 'we are due.'

I could see Oklahoma over looking us. All of Stoops talk about how the SEC isn't really that great mixed with the fact that we are still considered to be in the crapper. Could mean a lack of respect, which could lead to the biggest upset of the year. But I think a team with as many upperclassmen as OK will not let that happen.

Tennessee-Oklahoma Preview
60
(AP) -- Oklahoma's defense has been lights out, especially before halftime.

In their season-opening win against Louisiana Tech, the Sooners allowed three points in the first half -- and those came with 4 seconds left in the second quarter. Last Saturday, Oklahoma shut Tulsa out before the break and allowed 95 yards.

The fourth-ranked Sooners have outscored their opponents 62-3 in the first 30 minutes of their two dominant wins. They hope to carry that momentum into their home matchup with SEC member Tennessee on Saturday night.

"Oh yeah," linebacker Geneo Grissom said. "It's a nice SEC matchup. It's going to be a big game, lot of people there. Hopefully a sellout crowd, so we're going to come ready."

"We all know coach Stoops' feelings about the SEC," Grissom said. "As his guys, we're 100 percent behind him. We're going to make sure we help him out there and make a statement in that aspect."

Why do our posters keep saying they may over look us? Stoops is salivating to rub it in an SEC team, so if we come out and upset them it will not be bc we surprised them, it will be because we just plain beat them. GO VOLS!!

Serious Question? Did anyone really see Temple beating Vandy? or even Va Tech beating Ohio State? Upsets Happen all the time. Don't count UT out yet. Natures way of coping with failure is to expect the worst before an event happens. When it doesn't all the Nega Vols will be pumping sunshine up your ass.

Memphis State beating us with Peyton Manning or Wyoming?

We are a dangerous team this year. I'm sure most of the teams on our schedule will be watching this game with anticipation to see how much we have improved this year. If Oklahoma isn't ready, they will lose.
The last Cincinnati team that Butch took into Norman almost walked out of there with a W. Any given Saturday this year, Tennessee can definitely win.

Do we really know how good Oklahoma is? Everyone knows they beat 'bama... but all non-OU fans are qualifying that win to an extent.

The OU team that lost to Texas last year sucked. They got blasted by Baylor. That program's reputation is riding solely on the Alabama win.

Maybe they are that good, we'll see.

The bammers have done a good job promoting the "we didn't care" scenario. They cared and they got their a** handed to them.

No, hate Bama as I do, they did not care. NC game or bust. They went bust. Last years OK team was not better than Bama.

It will certainly be a chore, to stay in this game. BUT... all it will take for the Vols to have a shot in the 4th quarter is solid tackling on defense & taking care of the football on offense.

Oklahoma, when forced to run a lot of plays before they score, makes mistakes on offense. (Just like any other team.)

This game is not a physical/athletic mismatch, as would have been the case in 2013. The perception of a mismatch comes from the fact that the Vols are "green" at every position, other than quarterback.

If the young Vols can put together 60 minutes of solid blocking, tackling, kicking and ball security... the faithful in Norman will be sick, sore and tired of hearing Rocky Top.

Hopefully, our favorite tune will be stuck in some Sooner heads, for weeks to come.

:hi:

Predicting Oklahoma will be one of the four teams to make the playoffs. How incredible would it be if we could knock them out of it?! Nega Vols... I know, we have no chance...flame away

You need to put down the 420 you're smoking an realize most of us are saying its UNLIKELY which is true. Not impossible. The Vols have a punchers chance, but that's it.

The only thing I'm sure of is this.....if we beat Oklahoma it won't be because we're a good football team , it would only be because Oklahoma was overrated. That's how it works around here nowadays. I can see it now....."yeah we beat Oklahoma but wait till we have to play some SeC teams"

Stoops will keep the throttle wide open this week. He wants nothing more than a blowout of every sec school he can play. We have to bring our A game and no matter the circumstance, don't quit, or it will get ugly. There is a chance though to pull it off, we need a lot of things to happen obviously, but crazier things have happened. If we keep it close going into the 4th, I'll be satisfied bc we were in the game with a chance to win. I hope we shock the college football world Saturday. But we have got to be ready for a fight. Go vols!!!

They don't call them Choklahoma for nuttin. They lost to a Texas team last year that was so bad that the defensive coodinator got fired after giving up kver 500yds rushing to BYU and then they fired Mack Brown shortly after. They are prone to choke against one team they are supposed to beat every year. Why can't that be to UT?
