I've said before that I thought the starter next year will be RF. I get the impression that CBJ wants it to be him. If it turns out to be Worley or Dobbs I will support both. Whoever it happens to be I will laud him when he plays good/well. I will criticize him when he plays bad. I just want us to win games and restore the Volunteer tradition.
LOL!...good postOther coach speak
#1 Brick by Brick
#2 It's a team effort (duh!, it's not a foot race)
#3 Our competition is very good this weekend (doesn't matter if you are playing the paraplegic school for the blind, ever heard a coach say, "yep our competition this weekend is not a good football team"
#4 We are going to play for 60 minutes (duh!)
#5 I have to go back and watch the tape (Phil Fulmer)
#6 Were going back to the fundamentals of blocking and tackling (usually said when your team looks inept during a loss)
Things not to say
#1 We are learning 'shower discipline'
#2 If you don't go to Tennessee you will end up pumping gas (cause if you go to Tennessee you may get arrested at the Pilot)
#3 Our guys Saturday looked like the Nazis in WWII.
#4 I caught Urban Meyer in a recruiting violation.
Putting two and two together tells you that ferguson was ahead of dobbs
Dobbs threw a very nice ball but to be fair he didn't face the same competition or problems that Worley did. The WR's were at least somewhat seasoned by the time he started. He also had 5 INT's before getting 2 TD's and another INT vs UK.Dobbs had better completion percentage than Worley at 59.5% and played like a freshman who started against #1 defense in the country with no play makers around him. Auburn game he had absolutely no help around him.
All talk about who will start is nice fan fodder and will make for a bunch of threads to keep us entertained. Keep perspective here. With 18-19 year old kids very difficult to predict development. None of us truly knows but let's not be throwing a freshman quarterback under the bus who was put in a difficult position. Support everyone and wish for healthy competition before anointing someone who we know very little about.
This is why we have 4 quarterbacks. Very unpredictable.
For me personally I do hope the competition stays close until the fall. The cream will rise to the top.
I personally hope a starter is named leaving spring so that guy and the WR's can get more of the summer reps together- especially if it isn't Worley. I really don't want to see another season where they're in the 5th week before they get comfortable.
All will get some but Dobbs will separate from the pack.
GO VOLS!
Derrick Brodus is already a Tennessee legend in my book.
He comes off the frat couch to kick field goals for Tennessee. Absolutely awesome. With a police escort.
Also, I think Palardy took a quantum leap in his game thanks to the Brodus wake-up call.
