Soon after will come the 7,8 and even 9 game win predictions for the fall.

I believe 7 wins is possible with the talent on hand today. We do have a tough schedule though. I believe Butch is gonna surprise some folks :salute::salute:

God forbid peterman completes 1 more pass than worley..... There will be tim tebow comp threads n 12 n 0 predictions....lol

Won't see those comparisons from me. I think Tebow is the most overrated QB ever. Surround any QB with nothing but 4 & 5 star players and they will look good. Hopefully we'll be comparing Peterman to Johnny football instead!

In all honesty, I think Tebow was the perfect fit for the offense Urban ran at the UF. He was mobile. He was bullish, as our own Eric Berry said, he was a load.

On the pro level he was adequate in Denver. He crashed and burned with the NYJ not because he is a bad QB. But because the Jets coach doesn't know what the heck he wants offense-wise. Consequentially, either does Sanchez ( who is overrated) nor Tebow. Had he gone to a team with a coach who actually knows how to use and develop him, he'd perform better. Add to this the fact that it appears most of the Jets players didn't want him and if you think that doesn't reflect in the locker room, you're nuts. This will wear on any player no matter who you are.

He did better in Denver than NY. Elway parted ways ONLY because he was able to acquire P. Manning. Prior to that, Elway was singing how Tebow was his QB. In Denver, Tebow had player and management support, and time on the field to do what he does by instinct. To wit, create plays on the fly. But he never had real development there and that's not his fault.

However, what is his fault is that while at Florida, he rejected the opportunity to receive development. He literally told the QB coach to work with the other quarterbacks instead. This did and has cost him as a pro player. Remember he had to work on his mechanics when he first went to the combine and then again as a pro. His throwing motion was horrible. He cheated himself in this aspect. Like Tyler Bray, he relied on his natural raw talent and never did develop.

NO! I'm not a Tebow fan but I respect him as a person. He knew how to keep his pants zipped. He knew how to stay out of trouble. He actually tried to steer his more trouble-prone UF teammates to being trouble-free. Didn't work but the fact he tried says a lot about the player as a MAN. If and when my fellow Vols fans can lift the veil of jealous hate, for that's all it is, and see with unbiased eyes, you may figure out what I know some day. He was an arena style player who whipped our butts each time we went up against him. I didn't like it either but it is what it is.

I respect your opinion but I think the guy is mediocre at best as a QB. The Broncos couldn't wait to get rid of him, now the Jets can't wait to do the same. After he left Bronco players came out and said yea, he's a good guy but not much of a QB. No team wants him. Also, even though it wasn't in the SEC, Urban Meyer went undefeated with Alex Smith too.

First, I sincerely thank you for posting a civil response on this topic. For me it's a huge welcome change from the knee jerk thoughtlessness that shows up so often on this board.

OK, I don't think we disagree that Tebow was a so-so QB. If you look closer at my post, you even see where I said he sabotaged his own development, starting at the UF. But he was just right for Urban's system. I'm not even sure Urban had a system with Tebow. It was more a case of letting him do his thing which is create plays on the fly. Fran Tarkenton was similar in this aspect. Though not a QB, you could say the same with C. Patterson once he had the ball in his hands. As a WR, Cordie couldn't run a decent route to save his life, but boy oh boy give him the ball and he lit up like a Las Vegas slot machine.

So Fran was at his best when they were free to just create plays. But he wasn't what you'd call a great QB. Now, the same Denver players you cite are the ones who also said that whatever else about Tebow, he finds ways to win. I know only to well how people will smile and kiss your butt when things are going well, are also be the first to stick a hot poker in your eye when things don't go well. However, the bottomline on my end is that spewing venom at the guy who's actually a decent human being just makes the spewers expose their jealous fueled resentment because he whipped our Vols every year he was at the UF. That's a petty way to be. Personally, i hope he finds a team where he can play well at. Becoming yet another SEC player that shows we really are the best conference in the land.

Has there been any reliable word anywhere about whether or not the practices (any of them) will be open to the public?

The way Butch has been so far, it wouldn't surprise me if there were some practices opened to the public.
