If Auburn and Kentucky can beat Georgia, then SC is going to Atlanta.

LOL! I know a lot of Vol fans hate Visor Boy, but I think it'd be a kick in the head for SC to go to Atlanta. Hey, if we can't go, I'd as soon him as anybody.

He's the best coach in the country. Deny it if you can. Not only is he winning real ballgames in his first year w/ the program, it's with a traditionally sucky SC team. I hope Holtz's head explodes. It's all good!

Big win for SS and SC, but I am still wondering if Florida is really as good as a lot of people think.

We should have beaten them...UGH!

Ah, the year that could have been.

We cannot get a QB coach in here fast enough. It is going to cost more than the $250,000 that they are willing to pay to straighten this mess out. Never seen anything like it.

As for UT...game plan for next year:

1) Fire and replace all coaches
2) Get new uniforms
3) Subject every returning player to biological memory wash
4) Secretly replace all other SEC schools' offensive playbooks
with ours so they can suck
5) Organize a worldwide boycott of ESPN and all its
    affiliates

Does anybody remember the level of talent Spurrier is doing this with? South Carolina's players are TERRIBLE. No two ways about it. I remember all the preseason talk, even those with absolute faith in Spurrier's coaching ability said this would be a rough year of adjustment just because SoCar was lacking so much in talent. This man is incredible. I don't really have a hatred for him because I wasn't around the UT football scene back when. But damn do I respect that man.

Exactly. We've had the same ol' system for years. Everyone knows it and can obvioulsy beat it. All of the big boys can beat us. We rarely beat them.

This can only mean one thing....we do the same thing or more of what other schools have done....hire the best coaching staff out on the market. Forget Fulmer's loyalty. It's great to be loyal but if loyalty is ineffective, undisciplined, unproductive, etc. etc. then it is time for changes. Odds are we'll take a hit this year with recruiting so we need a Spurrier like OC who can take mediocre to nothing and turn it into something.

I'm passing around the collection plate right now...forget the stadium expansion. Use that money for some coaching.

That's my point in another post. He can turn nothing into something. Mitchell is not the stuff but somehow is making the plays and rolling his team on. We need this mentality in coaching.

Blake Mitchell is young but it's a little much to say he is "not the stuff". He was one of the top 10 qb's in the nation coming out of high school in 2002.

With a HS conference like his was and a schedule like it was in his career, I wouldn't put that much stock in Lemming's calling him a top 10 QB. He wasn't highly recruited and it wasn't even thought he would play and amount to anything until Spurrier came in and spent time on him. There was a battle there just like here. Spurrier stuck with him after seeing he could work with him more.

It wasn't just Lemming:

One of EA Sports Elite 11 quarterbacks ... Led his team to the Class AAA State championship his junior year ... Rated the #55 prospect in the country by Rivals.com ... Rated the #7 quarterback prospect in the nation by SuperPrep

Still doesn't mean much. Who all was after him? Very few because they saw the real player in HS. His numbers were inflated. It's like putting Leinart in the MAC or even a lesser conference. Better yet it's like his HS schedule was the Pac-10.

I'll give you another one....Chris Leak. Chris Simms.

Spurrier is a damn (college) football genius... I shutter to think what he'll once again do with loads of his own top recruits. I see that Mitchell was a highly regarded prospect... but I still think he's a tool out there on the football field.

There really wasn't a QB battle. The only guy SC had with any significant snaps was Syvelle Newton, and he had been moved to WR. It was basically Blake Mitchell from the start.

Dang, Dizz, I take it all back. You're exactly right. Why in the heck can't we get "loyal" coaches who can coach??

He had to choose between UGA, LSU and USC. Other schools looked for better players not limited to pocket passing.

He went to USC because he knew he couldn't compete with the lineups at each of those schools. USC was the only school he stood a chance to play and probably start. He went there for Lou Holtz and Joker Phillips both who are no longer there. He even thought about transfering until Spurrier told him he'd have his shot. Guess the Old Ball Coach was right...as usual.

We can. Anyone can. Some people just choose not to. Some choose and choose wisely: Auburn, UGA. Others choose and then choose poorly: Nebraska.

I think you're right. And at SC, the architects are busy drawing plans for that new trophy case.....
