Spurrier

It feels good knowing we played a role in his bailing out on his team and quitting the game. I bet he sleeps in a straight jacket at night to keep from twisting himself into knots while dreaming of losing to Tn.

So I’ve never hated him but his Florida tenure is just history for me. I am aware of some of what has been said but it was before I was a fan. His last season at Florida was 2001 and I started paying attention in 2003.

From what I understand, the comments people seems to hate him for happened when he played Fulmer coached teams, which he did well against. The whole UT citrus and such. For those who were there or know more, was it just him making jabs after he had started winning most years or did he always say something?

Also did he only do these things to Fulmer, or I guess what I’m asking is in his games at Duke and Florida against Majors did he do similar? Also was it just Tennessee or did he poke fun at other teams regularly? Someone mentioned Majors beating him. It looks like Spurrier beat our guys in ‘88 at Duke, lost in ‘89 there to them, came to Florida and lost in ‘90, and then won in ‘91. So against Majors he went 2-2.

After that Fulmer beat him in ‘92, but then lost in ‘93, ‘94, ‘95, ‘96, and ‘97 before winning in ‘98, losing in ‘99, ‘00, and then winning again in ‘01. That left things between them at 3-7. I guess what I’m trying to figure out is if he just trolled other teams regularly in general or if was only Tennessee, or if it was really more Fulmer than Tennessee.

In the world then and now do these guys hate each other?

Spurrier was the guy who quit on his team because he was afraid to lose to Butch again...
It's supposed to be "cool" to like him because "well, he ain't wrong". Lol. He spent his time at Florida with Fulmer being his whipping boy and then making fun of us, but because what he said was true, our fans loved him.

Yeah, college football was exciting when he was at Florida, but it would have been anyway and people talk about how they can't wait til Saban retires..lol, what if Spurrier hadn't been at Florida all through the 90's?

Fook him. He quit on his team. He's a whiney lil bish.

Spurrier probably feels some resentment toward Tennessee because they did not recruit him very hard when he played at Science Hill High School.

It's hard to believe the Sunseri D didn't top that.
I mean I don't see how he could. That was about as bad as it can get other than letting them score on the one possession they punted. That was historically bad.

He quit on his team. Nothing he says is worth a bucket of piss.

Exactly he walked out on a team he built because they were losing. What a gutless way to end a career.

The 01 UT-UF game was billed as the biggest game ever played at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and ol Stevie was a 17 pt favorite going into the game and Phil Fulmer and the Tennessee Volunteers beat them. Steve whined because the Florida fans were upset over losing that game, got mad and quit. Went to the NFL where he was a miserable failure and then took the South Carolina b/c the Florida AD wouldn't kiss his ring. He had some early success in Columbia but then when a team he put together began losng, he quit 2 weeks before he had to bring his team into Neyland Stadium and lose to Butch Jones again.

That's the legacy he left at both Florida and South Carolina. A quitter.

Spurrier is the 'Official Ambassador' of the 2022 Florida Gators football team.

They are currently sitting with a 6-6 record and have a num=nuts for a head coach.

Seems like he should zip that lip and worry about his in-house problems.

Hope Steve enjoys his six days of 30-degree weather over in the Birmingham Bowl.

Go to the "What player you hate" or whatever its called thread.

Why they hate Tebow so much, or Wuerffel?

Yeah, I know that to be true. But, don't really understand why.

The gators ABSOLUTELY hate Peyton Manning. I understand that, because he is extremely successful. People are going to be jealous.

However, Tebow and Wuerfel obviously made zero impact at NFL level. So, I don't know why people hate them.

Steve Spurrier reacts to South Carolina’s huge win over Tennessee exactly how you’d expect. Yea he’s still a ahole! Never liked this Florida turncoat. Somebody should ask him how his last ever Florida home as HC went haha?
I mean seriously people are just searching for things to be butthurt about at this point. What was he supposed to say? Of all the one liners he coulda dropped that was probably the most classy. Hell I did feel sorry for us the fact he almost did is actually endearing. The I've coached here more than some of their coaches is hilarious because post Fulmer he is right for most coaches lol.

Sometimes you have to be able to laugh at yourself and respect a good barb when it's funny.
