I definetly wouldn't want to get stomped on by Haynesworth but I don't know what I would do if I had to face Rod Wilks!

Shazzon Bradley

I was picking through the posts to see if someone mentioned Bradley. From what I remember, wasn't he undefeated in his high school wrestling career?

I know I read somewhere that his boxing career in the late 90's, he was like 21-0 with 17 KOs.

Big Sexy! I forgot about Nash.

In his prime, he had the best hair in wrestling. Which is important, you know.

W/o a doubt, Raynoch Thompson. For those who don't know, Raynoch had quite the reputation off the field (and on it). The only player Jamal Lewis was terrified of. Al Wilson would be up there too.

Ovince St Preux is fighting in Thompson-Boling Arena Friday night as part of the first ever pro MMA show in Tennessee (XFC 7). If you go to buy tickets online and type XTREME as the promo code you get $10 off tickets. Should be fun. His opponent is planning on wearing a Tebow jersey to the cage. St. Preux isn't the one I anticipated going into mma. What UT players would make the scariest opponent inside the cage?

I'll go Albert Toeaina. As for current Vols...can't pick against Big Vlad.

Here is a story on St. Preux's transition to MMA:

Ovince St. Preux never made it to the NFL. Instead, the former Tennessee defensive end and linebacker is trying to make waves as a professional athlete in a very different, and growing, sport.

St. Preux will be competing on the University of Tennessee campus yet again on Friday, this time as a professional mixed martial artist, as part of the Xtreme Fighting Championship's "School of Hard Knox" event at Thompson-Boling Arena.

This will be the first sanctioned professional MMA event in Tennessee.

"It's the hometown crowd so it's pretty good," St. Preux said. "I can't complain about it."

So how did St. Preux make the transition from competing on the gridiron to stepping inside the cage? It all started in 2006, with his football days well behind him. St. Preux wanted to find a way to stay in shape, and a fraternity brother invited him to tag along to what both thought was a kickboxing class.

It turned out to be a class in mixed martial arts training.

"While I was in class and what not, kicking and punching, I was like, 'OK, this seems really cool. I like it,' " St. Preux recalled. "My (eventual) trainer, Eric Turner, he told me, 'Well, OK, we'll work on submissions and holds.' Later on he says, 'Let's work on grappling.' "

After getting a taste of mixed martial arts, St. Preux started to pursue additional training. Formerly a standout amateur wrestler in high school, St. Preux made his professional debut last May, and carries a 1-2 record into Friday's fight.

While working at a nightclub to help pay the bills, St. Preux's preparation for a fight involves four MMA training sessions per week, along with three workouts and two or three cardio sessions. It certainly accomplishes that aforementioned goal to keep him in shape. Listed at 240 pounds in the final year of his career at UT, St. Preux now competes in the light heavyweight division, which has a 205-pound weight limit.

"Cardio-wise, it's different because in football, you're pushing yourself hard for five or six seconds, and then you get 25 or 30 seconds rest before the next play gets started. With mixed martial arts, it's just a fast pace," St. Preux explained. "In football, it's a longevity type of deal because the game can be two or three hours. In mixed martial arts, it's going to be not even 30 minutes at most. It's probably a total of 18 minutes if you want to put the breaks in between there."

St. Preux faces CT Turner, an undefeated pro. Known as either "The Hulk" or "Louisville Slugger", Turner has being doing some top-notch trash talk to hype the fight. Turner boasted he would destroy St. Preux "like the Florida Gators destroyed Tennessee in football." There's also talk he will wear a Tim Tebow jersey during his entrance Friday.

"I heard he's a pretty big guy. Pretty aggressive and what not," St. Preux said. "Basically, it's a good matchup."
Few individuals can say they've won a professional MMA fight, or made a tackle in front of 100,000-plus at Neyland Stadium. St. Preux has done both. Which begs the question, which is better?

"I'd put them both up on the same pedestal," St. Preux said.

Tennessee had it's first MMA pro fight last night at TBA. It started out kind of slow but the fight of the night was former Tennessee football player Ovince St. Preux vs. CT Turner.

St. Preux came out with Rocky Top playing loudly and the fans were going crazy. CT turner, from Gainsville, came out to the Florida chant music and doing the Gator chomp like crazy. Boo's rang out through the whole place.

Two minutes into the fight St. Preux hit Turner with a leg kick to the face that nearly decapitated him, then hit him one more time on his way down. I have never seen anybody get kicked in the face as hard as Turner got hit. As soon as it happened the place went crazy. Turner laid unconscious for around a minute, then stumbled out of the cage.

No Gator chomp on the way out.

That was an AWESOME event. Ovince did the Vols proud!

XFC 7 - Final Card Results Octagon Buzz

Ovince St. Preux, the ex-University of Tennessee linebacker and “wedge-busting” special teams ace, received the loudest ovation from the crowd – and opponent CT Turner of Tampa, Florida certainly received the loudest boos, especially after taunting the audience by expressing his support for the Florida Gators with a theatrical “Gator Chomp” while walking to the cage. In pre-fight trash-talk, Turner vowed to “destroy Ovince like the Gators destroyed the Volunteers in football,” but St. Preux definitively silenced Turner with a jaw-busting rear leg kick to the chin that blasted Turner to the canvas. Out cold, the referee immediately stopped the fight at 2:36 in round one.

“Oh boy, when I saw him do the Gator Chomp, I knew I had to win this fight!” exclaimed St. Preux. “Otherwise I’d never hear the end of it. CT is a great athlete, but he kept putting his hands down. The moment I saw him drop his hands, I just knew I was going to connect with that kick. It’s a great feeling getting the knockout of the night, and I can’t wait to do it again!”

Immediately after the fight ended, XFC president John Prisco announced to the audience that St. Preux had earned a return bout in XFC and would appear in the organization’s next promotion in Knoxville on April 25. “That was one of the most devastating knockouts I’ve ever seen in my life,” remarked Prisco. “He nearly knocked CT’s head clean off his neck. Ovince deserves another chance to fight in the XFC, and he has an opportunity to do something very, very special in his young MMA career.”

It wasn't huge attendance. Most of the floor seats were filled up and the first 3 rows of the 100 level was kinda full, maybe every other seat.

Another article: Tennessee?s First Sanctioned Professional MMA Event A Huge Success by Fightjunky | Ring Leader Fight News

In a groundbreaking night in Tennessee’s MMA history, deep in the heart of Volunteer country, it is fitting that the signature moment of the night came courtesy of a highlight reel knockout delivered by a former UT defensive end.

Friday, February 20, 2009, marked Tampa-based XFC’s debut MMA event in Tennessee and that state’s first-ever sanctioned professional MMA card. President John Prisco and company brought XFC’s high production values and compelling matchmaking to Thompson-Boling Arena on the University of Tennessee campus for a fun-filled night of eleven fights.

In the co-main event of the evening, crowd favorite and former UT football star Ovince St. Preux took on Kentucky bad boy CT Turner, who came out doing a Florida gator chomp to rile up the crowd. Turner opened the fight with a double leg takedown into side control. St. Preux rolled out into north-south, after which they briefly got back to their feet. Turner got another takedown and briefly took back control, but St. Preux was able to turn into Turner’s guard. After a stalemate on the ground, the ref stood the fighters up for a restart. From there St. Preux landed a devastating, Cro Cop style left kick to Turner’s head, and a punch for good measure while Turner was on his way to the mat. Turner was out cold for several minutes, and St. Preux was serenaded with “Rocky Top” by the hometown crowd. St. Preux won by a stunning KO 2:36 into the first round.
