Staff Update?

Could anyone elaborate or bring a little info about this guy? I was in favor of keeping Pittman and was wondering what this new guy brings to the table.
I would imagine because Mahoney teaches the blocking scheme needed for CBJ's offensive scheme, while Pittman does not. I wanted Pittman to stay as well, but it is understandable that CBJ would want an OL that teaches the offensive scheme he uses, and has been in that system for a while. Pittman should be picked up fairly quickly as good a job as he did with the OL this season.

I'm not really excited about the Wil Mart hire, the fan bases he has coached for seem to hate him. I'm seeing a lot of "bend but not break" kind of guy.

Martinez was not hired as the DC. Jancek and CBJ will determine what style of D UT implements.

I have read Tommy Thigpen to LB's and Willie Martinez to DB's in addition to Tee Martin offered. With those 3 coaches and Graham, recruiting will be fine.

HC- Jones
OC/QB- Bajakian
RB- Graham
OL- Mahoney
WR- Martin
DC- Jancek
DL- Stripling
LB- Thigpen
DB- Martinez
ST-
TE-

S/C- Szerszen

Others considered from UC staff:
Wiest (WR)
Johnson (TE)

TE- Elder

In the meeting with the players, he said that he knew a good defense was needed in the SEC. It seems like he at least realizes that and hopefully will get DC that also knows this as well.

Football Scoop is reporting..

Mark Elder has joined the staff and will coach the tight ends. Elder previously served as the special teams coordinator / safeties coach at Cincinnati.

ANYBODY should be an improvement over our 2ndary coaching last season. It was embarrassing!!

I happy to see how this staff is shaping up with two current/former defensive coordinators on the defensive side also with Tommy Thigpen handling linebackers, and two former Vols on the offensive side bring Orange blood and championship experience. Butch Jones is doing a nice job of putting his staff together. New guys, familiar Cinci staff, and former Vols with solid recruiting and coaching experience. Let's pray our recruiting class shapes up to be a good one, and we may surprise in the SEC next year. Go Vols!

I heard CBJ say he was going to build the best staff in the whole country; I wasn't aware that Cincy's staff was rated that high.

Given he's had this group intact for awhile, won 4 conference championships over 6 years with them and succeeds or fails based on their performance over the next three, perhaps he's on to something.

I'm excited. I just wish we didn't have to wait eight months to find out.
