Stanford's Shifty Play...

So being up 33-12 and throwing a TD pass across the middle is ok but shifting............SHIFTING, is classless?? Bright people we've got here

None of the people crying "CLASSLESS!" have yet to mention the outcome of all of that quite entertaining shuffling. It led to a half yard run. It's not like they shifted the line three times then proceeded to run some trick play just to rub it in. Some of you need to unwad your panties.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it the job of the defense to stop the offense?

Yes, but apparently it's the offense's job not to hurt the feelings of the defense while the defense attempts to do its job.

Va. Tech were the beneficiaries of playing in a weak conference, sort of like SC playing in a weak division. They got exposed for what they are.

That was BS. I see a trend with Harbaugh. At that point they were just being d*cks. Last year with USC the time out being called was questionable. I didn't see a huge deal. This year though and this deal with the shift against Va Tech just to be a d*ck was uncalled for. I have a lot of respect for ole Frank. That was classless.

I dont care if they would have lost 20 yards on the play. I feel that its pretty disrespectful to the other coach/team to pull a gimmic like that. These teams dont even have any kinda history. I could see them going at one of their rival teams with that. But come on. I doubt they did anything more than just piss them off. I doubt any of them went home and cried to momma all night about those big mean bullies who had their heads spinning with the shifts. I will agree that Foster should have been able to gameplan better to adjust to the shifts.

What's disrespectful is that terrible schedule Tech plays and the fact that they took up a BCS auto-bid.

Poor little Bud Foster's defense got whipped. Stanford wasn't in the wrong to mess with them on a national stage.

VaTech went OOC to play Boise St this season, Bama and Nebraska last year, Nebraska the year before, and LSU before that. The ACC isn't the SEC, but it is hard to knock the portion of their schedule that they control.

they also add a 1aa team almost every year

What is with all this "classless" talk. Its FOOTBALL, it's not a dinner party. Running up the score, stupid hand gestures, shifty offenses, etc. has nothing to do with class.

I always liked Jimmy Johnson, because he knew it was your job to keep him from running up the score. "It's not my fault your team sucks."

My web filter at work blocked the video as 'Classless'. Too bad I can't watch it again right now.

I can't watch the vid but they did some shifts last night that really confused VT. The one on their own 3yd line where he broke it for 50 yds was pretty

They were doing it all night with success...this was one instance when Stanford was up by 21 with 7 minutes to go. It wasn't you're typical shift. They shifted about 5 times on one play.
