Alright, I am not going to push this because I understand people have different opinions on things and I am not trying to just be a jerk, but I have to clarify what I meant because I don't think it is clear. I will try and leave some key words out so as not to be too spoiling.
"It's supposed to be different," sure. But if there is no [planet], there is no [planet's science academy] to fund the original individual's mission that created the time travel event, right? In fact, that character would obviously not even do that in this new time line, knowing what he knows. SO, how did [planet] get destroyed, then, if the original destroyer is no longer coming? It's an incomplete time loop, and thus can't work. If you make a major change in the past, you have forever changed the future-- so the original events that led to you being able to change the past is potentially altered, and certainly altered in this case-- and then the past won't be changed.
At any rate, oh well. I guess I am just a fuddy duddy.
