Just saw it and I thought it was an entertaining action movie that improved on the last one. Now, that being said, I have beef with some of the story lines that tie in the old movies, but that's just me. Overall I liked it though.
Forgot that my VN name is Star Wars related. But yes, the movie was great. I plan on going to see it for a second time this weekend. Hadn't seen a Star Trek movie until the reboot and I loved that one too.
I really love the fact that JJ Abrams paid some respect to Captain Archer and the crew of the NX-01 Enterprise. If you paid attention to the models behind Admiral Marcus' desk, the chronology follows a similar path to the opening credits from Star Trek Enterprise including a model of the NX-01.
Soooooo glad I stayed away from spoilers. Kind of suprised they were able to pull this off without the speculation being confirmed. Story line was eriely similar to many of today's warfare ethical dilemmas which is something Roddenberry would be proud of.
Caught the matinee this afternoon, I give it a 9/10 for the same reason I think I gave the first one.
That being the Enterprise being able to fly in a planet's atmosphere. (And apparently underwater) I know that the USS Voyager in that series could do it but it was supposedly the first ship that could do it and that was supposedly around 150 years give or take from the original Enterprise show timeline.
I don't know how many noticed but Chris Pine really channeled Shatner at times in some of his mannerisms etc..
Have to admit the scene didn't make a whole lot of sense. She lead Kirk to a shuttle, undressed behind him, then waited for McCoy to actually join her on the shuttle.
