Good grief! There aren't 100,000 season tickets sold at UT. The 100,000 people you speak of included the band, students, and opposing fans. So you're asking opposing fans to now pay $100 over face value so UT can get Gruden?

So a fan has to be a season ticket holder to be considered a fan? A lot of fans don't go to games. Not to mention, the hypothetical $100 would be from the donating fan over the course of the season, not over face value for a ticket.

I donate. Opposing fans should donate more because their visiting section is smaller and more intimate.

My bad, I should have put unproven on the college level. :hi:

Eh, it's early. I meant 'far from' and accidentally agreed with you in my post. I follow what you are saying. He runs a more pro style west coast offense with lots of formations and movement. He would have to simplify his playbook in that Gruden's playbook was thought of as complex time consuming one to learn. That being said, the guy knows offense and with the right collection of assistants could turn this ship around in fairly short order.

How they would want you to donate is by giving to the VASF and purchase season tickets or just give a donation. I think you can donate as little as $100 if you wanna try and get tickets.

That's my point, there aren't 100,000 donating fans. UT has 70-75K season ticket holders maximum. That's still a ton, but a lot of those already kick out some major $$$ in donations.

Zero. Natta. Nothing. Much like the Federal Government, UT does not have a revenue problem, they have a SPENDING problem. Stop wasting money on coaches who can't or won't coach. Stop paying millions to coaches who don't coach and stop making stupid monetary decisions regarding contracts, etc.

I made a similar thread, and everyone was upset

I still say that everyone donate $1-$5 at halftime, and we hand it to whatever elite recruit(s) is/are there that day. (secretly)

THE RISE TO THE TOP IS IMMINENT

I donate every year already, AND I paid 5 years of out of state tuition that i'm still paying on. How about this UT, YOU owe me a good coaching hire and some wins. I am a third generation Vol alumni, I think my family has paid enough money to UT over the decades.

There is no point in your statement. You act as if season ticket holders are the only one's who would donate. Not everyone that are fans go to every game. Try going to the strip sometime on gameday. There are way more than 100K tailgating. Evidence of that the bars are all packed during home games as well. That's not counting alum that has moved away due to employment obligations. You took a basic comment to mean something it didn't. 2nd thread today in which you have done that.

No public University in the United States should ever conduct some kinda hokey pokey "fundraiser"/ bake sale/ lemonade stand, in order to be able to hire a football coach. Have some pride for eff's sake.

Thanks for your post Captain Obvious. Current argument is with closet Florida fan in reference to only season ticket holders having the $100 a year for the off the wall hypothetical 'fundraiser'.

Gruden is not worth 10 million a year. I am quite sure Dave Hart and UT would not even continue speaking to him if he did. Hard to make a case for an unproven HC at 10 million a year when for the same money you could have Patterson, Petersen, Saban, and some change left over.

The talk is gruden wants 6 mill and another 4 for his asses. 6+4=10

I had read that before. The way the poster talking about it sounded was Gruden himself was worth 10 million. I would still get a NO from both Patterson and Petersen at 4.25 before offering Gruden even 5 million.

Perhaps a fund should be started, maybe the school needs help from the fan base...

How much would you be willing to donate out of your own pocket as a vol fan?

The University is not going to solicit publicly. Now if VN were to start a " Buyout the Coach" thread----who knows? It would be an opportunity for Vol fans to show the Country what they are REALLY made of. HUH FREAK? I would throw in for that. First Tennessee Bank could handle the $. WTH not? Talk about making Tennessee fans look like the best in the country------

I already donate and you bump my parking spot every year....I could spend less paying $200 per ticket for every SEC game and still have plenty to pay for parking and buy a Petro.

I'm not alumni so I don't "donate" to the university but I do pay quite a bit for tickets. I would say if the ticket prices were raised incrementally to fund such an endeavor I'd be ok with that. I usually attend 2-3 games a year
