State of Recruiting: Tennessee

I have not seen all play...but I have seen Richardson, Clear, Cody Robinson, J Washington, Kerbyson, Tino Thomas, Derrick King, and Jeremia Bryson play this year.

Of those......Clear is the one that might be a great player.

I love TN HS football......but name the last player from this state that went on to do GREAT things in college? Anywhere. Darkwa (sp) at Tulane is doing real well there...but I'm talking big time school. This class seems short of talent...even for Tennessee HS standards. More decent players...but not great ones. JMO!

Hey man don't be hating on my class. Like others have said it may not be the most top heavy but there's a lot of talent spead out there. I played against Clear and I think he'll do really well, along with richardson, crowder, downs, and tino thomas with some coaching.

Some obviously won't perform at the next level (as always), but enough will and I think some people will be pleasantly surprised.

I'm not "hating" on your class. I hope that everyone that comes to UT does great!

I just think it is a weaker class than some others in the recent past. We will all find out in the next 2-4 yrs. I hope I'm wrong! All will be supported! No question.

There's a quite a few lineman from TN starting on SEC/ACC teams right now. Hightower, Cobb, and Eric Gordon is going to be a good one.

now you seem to be backpedaling some...you said you had seen all the players...now we find out you have only seen a small fraction of the players.....

so based on that......it really is only assumption on your part that the state is down this year based on the few players you have seen.......

I dont think that is an accurate assessment.....on your part

and I could also list names of TN players that have been successful over just the last few years....there are kids from Knoxville, etc playing in the NFL.....

It seems to me the state has gotten better over the last 10 years. I will take lineman from this state anyday.

OK....2 really good ones. Gordon???? we will see. Has talent, but I'm talking great!

Same subject ...but different chapter....besides Chad Pennington...name a state QB that has ever done squat in the NFL..(Levi Brown is on a practice squad...does not count)? This state lacks elite wepons! Always has.

edit ...Golden Tate!

You realize the smaller population here in Tennessee compared to Georgia, Florida, Texas, Ohio, Illinois, etc, right? And the different demographics from Alabama, Mississippi, etc... Right?

Different "demographics"?????WTH? What does that mean? 17th largest state in the country based on population....Its not Alaska!!!!

Tennessee is larger than Missouri, Wisconsin, Colorado, ALABAMA, SOUTH CAROLINA, LOUISANIA, KENTUCKY,Oregon, MISSISSIPPI, and ARKANSAS.

Now what????

BTW.....Harrison Smith from Knoxville at Notre Dame.........You are a great player! Did not see that he was the DB that int'd the pass to beat Kiffin and USC! Saw that on another thread!:good!:

Admittedly, I've only given this about 8 seconds of thought, but Steve Spurrier was a first round draft pick that spent about 10 years in the NFL as a quarterback. More recently, I think Ingle Martin has been on a couple of rosters as a QB.

Edit: Joe Gilliam started as a rookie for the Steelers, but Bradshaw beat him out after Gilliam found the white bag.

He meant demographics as in race. And yes, Alabama, Mississippi etc. while their overall populations are smaller than Tennessee's, they have a much higher percentage of African American residents. And regardless of what anyone wants to think about it, that plays a BIG role in why Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia are much better for recruiting than Tennessee.
