The real crime here was the choice of beer.

The 23-year-old entered the store and bought two 1.75-liter bottles of Smirnoff vodka and a 200-milliliter bottle of Jack Daniel's whiskey, police said, as well as a case containing 30 cans of Natural Light beer.

Smirnoff? Natty Light? The only good liquor he got and he only got 200 ml of that.

No Grey Goose? No Belvedere? No Sweetwater or Sam Adams beer?

Not exactly the drinks of choice to college kids.

Also, why does every JC story get put on the Vol forum? :disappointed:

Where is the crime here?

Clausen didn't buy the alcohol, he didn't consume it but he's being cited? He has a driver's license he's not allowed to drive a car with someone who purchased alcohol?

Your not allowed to buy alcohol if someone under 21 is in the car? This is ridiculous.

Well I had a similar incident happen. If you purchase alcohol with someone underage, by law you can be asked to show id. I bought some beer once at a gas station and had a minor with me, and the attendant asked for his id, as well as the person's id sitting in my car. I asked a police friend of mine about that, and apparently that is what they are suppost to do.

Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor is what comes to mind here. Most of the time though its obvious who's buying the beer isn't just buying it for themselves, especially when the guy or gal with them is licking their chops like an Ethiopian who has seen their first steak dinner.

Thats true. I was with my dad once at a gas station and he stopped to get beer and they wanted my ID also. Thye wouldnt sell to my dad because he had a minor (20), his son in the car with him. I think thats rediculous.
