Thats true. I was with my dad once at a gas station and he stopped to get beer and they wanted my ID also. Thye wouldnt sell to my dad because he had a minor (20), his son in the car with him. I think thats rediculous.

I guess its time to go back to making moonshine

They are worried about people being injured in a car by a drunk driver so its degenerated to the point that it is now illegal to buy alcohol if someone under 21 is in the car.

What's next? Illegal to buy alcohol if someone under 21 is in the parking lot? In the store?

Where is the crime here?

Clausen didn't buy the alcohol, he didn't consume it but he's being cited? He has a driver's license he's not allowed to drive a car with someone who purchased alcohol?

Your not allowed to buy alcohol if someone under 21 is in the car? This is ridiculous.
Makes sense to me. Maybe Jimmy can call Casey and Rick to come up there and slap the excise police around a little.

This is so stupid. By the looks of this "law", police could cite anyone buying alcohol that has a minor with them.

In other words, if you live in Indiana, don't take your kids to the store and buy alcohol.

I know that is a little different, but not by much.

Cops need better things to do.

Yea, on another forum someone explained the citation is for transportation while being underaged. Something like that. A few states have laws like that. He didn't buy it, or drink, but he drove to buy it.

Well I had a similar incident happen. If you purchase alcohol with someone underage, by law you can be asked to show id. I bought some beer once at a gas station and had a minor with me, and the attendant asked for his id, as well as the person's id sitting in my car. I asked a police friend of mine about that, and apparently that is what they are suppost to do.

I was in Florida about 2 years back on a vacation. A van full of us pulled into a BP. I went in to get me a can of my Copenhagen Long Cut and honest to god this woman asked me for my ID (which I had no problem with) and everyone's ID in the car. For a damn can of Copenhagen.

I understand why people would do this for beer but this woman went a little far with the Copenhagen. Needless to say I didn't get my Copenhagen from that store.

south bend is apparently nazi like in it's underage drinking enforcement. This is what happens when you live in the middle of nowhere and the cops have nothing else to do.

In Ga and FL, they are supposed to card or both alcohol and tobacco products.

That reminds me a few years ago when UGA was playng Ole Miss, I was at a BP and there was this Ole Miss fan trying to buy beer and he didn't have an ID. The girl wouldn't sell it to him, so he asked her if I could but it for him, and she said "No, not after you have told me." :birgits_giggle:
