Stephen Garcia dismissed permanently from USC

Cause they found a better qb, they have no use for him anymore.

This. If Connor Shaw had tanked last w/e, it would've never happened. Spurrier has wanted to do this for years. It would be hilarious to see it blow up on them.

Have to admit-- I was hoping for Garcia at Neyland.

Interesting that he just happens to get dismissed right after Spurrier finds another quarterback.

Yeah, unless it's documented that Garcia did something criminal, this really does make Spurrier look bad.

good riddance...maybe that is why CSS blew up at the reporter today...fed up with Garcia and fed up with the reporter.

Waited until Shaw had a nice outing before pulling the trigger. Nice.

Was probably a mutual separation at this point. Can't imagine Garcia was interested in sitting on the bench for the second half of his senior year.

My first thought as well.

Getting a early start on his gas pumping career?

Spurrier is so old he doesn't care about morality anymore, he cares about winning. There are a few of these guys in the SEC. Spurrier just doesn't care and let's it be known. Never was much of a disciplinarian at Florida either. He just had the talent to cover it up like now at SC. You won't hear much about it because they're winning.

I like how it said that he failed the alcohol test Oct. 4th but didn't get rid of him till this week. I guess they had to make sure conner shaw could pull it out against UK last sat.

Looks to me like for months, if not for years, Steve Spurrier had begged the school to not kick Garcia out until a "good" replacement was found. Now the hammer finally fell after Shaw had a good game, ehhh, against UK, and Garcia had no value anymore.

"Kudos" to coach Spurrier and S. Carolina to finally dismiss "5-strike Stephen". Wait, am I the only person find the statement made by their AD very hypocritical? Mr. Hyman said: "Being a student-athlete at the University of South Carolina is a privilege, not a right..." Hello Mr. Hyman, where have you been in the past 4~5 years? Living under a rock while your "5-strike Stephen" roaming around and accumulating his strikes? I see: Stephen has always been entitled to do whatever he wants in the past 4 years but miraculously, overnight, you held him against a much higher standard, and poor Stephen was kicked out of door?

Keep up the good work S. Carolina, but I think I just lost some respect for you.

He failed a marijuana test, too, per Chris Low. I hate it for him, but he did it to himself.

from what I gather, it was drugs, not alcohol that got him the boot. That fraggle most be going through some serious turmoil.

I hope that he is a better father than teammate...

I'm sure the fact that Shaw looked solid on Saturday had absolutely nothing to do with Garcia running out of second chances.
