Stetson Bennett….

He’s a damn good qb, and I’m sure all the Georgia fans just think we’re being biased hating on him, but that’s not it. He’s just not a heisman worthy qb. Sure his story is nice, and he’s probably going to help UGA win back to back NC’s. That’s impressive, but I’m sorry, 20td’s to 6int for a heisman finalist is straight up laughable.

Announced as one of the 4 finalist for the Heisman. Shame it took him 2 extra games to only get 100 yards more passing than Hooker with 3 times the int’s. Hooker has equal or better stats than all 4 finalists in 2 less games.
he only passed for 320 yards in the all the 4th qtrs all season, don’t let the stats fool you. His stats are better than any qb in the country vs. ranked teams. uga took the air out of it, hooker should be there but to say a kid who qb only 1 loss over 2 years shouldn’t be there is crazy.

...a DGD. All the dude does is win. Stat-happy folks don't agree.
Similar stats to Doug Flutie when he won in '84.

They aren't winning all those games because of his qb play

Let's say you were going to replay the 2022 season with the knowledge from the season, but using teams constructed by draft, and you had the first pick. Would you draft Stetson Bennett first? Because that is essentially what the Heisman trophy should be, right?

Don’t give me similar stats from 38 years ago, if anything that detracts from your argument.
Ok, let me make it a little easier for you to understand. The Heisman winner has not always gone to the guy with the best stats. The voters today are lazy, and don't watch most (if any) of the games. They go to ESPN.com on Sunday AM and look at the box score to determine who had a good performance. Traditionally, "winners epitomize(d) great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work" (from the Heisman Trophy Trust mission statement). There are a number of worthy candidates each year, but sadly, the award has become a beauty contest.

No. Don't say the Heisman Trophy should be anything. The Heisman Trophy Trust has been around awhile. Their mission statement says what the winner epitomizes.
Have your own award if you'd like. Call it whatever you want. But you don't have the right to change their criteria because you don't agree with it.

If you want to say that Stetson is a winner you can say that. I agree w/ that. You compared his stats to Flutie to support an argument that he deserved to be there. 20/6 in 2022 isn’t the time to make that argument. Does that make it easier for you to understand ?

He’s Bama QB’s of 15 yrs ago. Good but not great. Only had to do a limited amount because the teams they played on are stacked. AJ Mc., McElroy .

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. The point I tried to make was that the Heisman Trophy winner epitomizes great ability (stats) combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work (heart). One part is measurable. The other, much more open to interpretation. .

The Heisman is a marketing, made-for-TV award. Has been for a long time. A lot of the time it comes down to "let's give it to a guy who can be the face of college football this year."

The QB of the #1 team in the country who and in the CFP, and also won the CFP last year, is a better option for that than a QB that nobody knew about before the season started, played for a 10-2 team, and isn't playing any more games this year due to injury. Even though his stats are better. Harsh, but that's the reality of that award.
