I really have no opinion on the Pearl sage, but if we do need a new coach sometime soon, I think we could sway Fischer away from SDSU. He's doing great things there and was very successful at Michigan before being run off.

no thanks, we need young blood to coach this rag tag bunch. (or what will be left of them )

Coincidentally, his ability to get another job bodes well for Pearl, if he is suspended for a year, and ultimately fired. Fisher was involved in some seriously shady goings on at Michigan...

I'm pretty sure Michigan booster Ed Martin was responsible for all the illicit activities going on at Michigan during the early 90s. Fischer did take the fall for what occurred and rightfully so, it was under his watch... but the dude can coach.

Jesus Christ, why not just hire Jim Harrick? At least he's a decent floor coach.

So, I just read the post from LWSVol stating that the decision on Pearl has already been made. Looks like, after the next loss, the search for a new coach will begin. Can anyone else confirm this or have anything to add?

I'd feel the same way if I were you. But, have you heard anything like what LWS reported? I went back and read his most recent comments and it seems, from reading what he typed on March 1st and 2nd that something changed about 2 weeks ago when the support for Pearl "reversed". I'm just trying to find out what happened and is this really a done deal.

Because Jim Harrick has been completely black-balled from the D-1 coaching community. I know you were being sarcastic, but Fischer is no Jim Harrick. Who wants to bet that his team makes it farther than UT in the tourney this year???

Ummm...anyone with half a brain. I could coach that team further than where UT will get bounced.

As I wrote last week, I have yet to talk with anyone in the coaching community who thinks Pearl will return. That been consistent since this broke in September. As to what changed in the UT administration's thinking, I don't think anything really has. Showing public support during a season is the only way to go.

It was a rhetorical question, of course they will make it further than UT. The real question is: do you think that SDSU has more talent on the roster than UT????

I have a friend who is a former D-1 coach who sent this to me:

- This has been confirmed through numerous sources, including juco and D1 coaches, along with media personnel. Pelphrey along with Tennessee's Bruce Pearl
are "Dead Men Walking".
