So if one gets fired for sexually harrassing one's co-workers, can one sue for being fired due to a sex addiction? Where should these lawsuits end?

The should've ended a long time ago, but it's hard to corral the bullshat once it's been turned loose.w

Why? I mean I dislike USC, but just because Alcoholism is viewed as a disability doesn't mean that someone shouldn't be able to be fired for it. Trying to lead impressionable young men while an alcoholic??

I hope he gets laughed out of court-- though that won't happen and he'll probably win because PC culture and don't hurt anyone's feeling.

Society tries to label everything a disability, rather than people take personal responsibility. It is an addiction that is his responsibility to take care of (not saying people should not help him though) imo. That would be like players taken up a lawsuit because they were kicked off team due to addiction to drugs. (obviously one drug in particular has been a problem with athletes)

Can't imagine anyone would want to hire a guy who sued his previous employer out of fear of it happening again. He may have just sealed his career with this.

If he wins (or they settle for even a fraction of the amount) he'll be set for life.

So USC should have continued to pay Sarkisian millions of dollars in the hope that he would get his **** together? What if he had hurt someone while he was drunk in the office, at practice, or on the sideline?

You are kidding yourself if you think that USC really had a choice.

Or killed someone while driving to work!!

How in the he77 does a person have the nerve to sue someone because they were terminated for showing up to work more than once drilling off his arse???

This guy is a joke. I'm sorry he's an alcoholic but that doesn't give him the right to sue

Of course he has the right to sue. I don't think he should win. It's a disability that is protected by the ADA and EEOC. He deserved to be fired for showing up to work drunk. That act is not protected.

Having read parts of the complaint, the opening looks like it was written by an excited 13 year old. The actual meat of the complaint though is actually not terrible at all.

I don't think he wins by any means, but USC will settle out of court because the worst thing they could get is a disgruntled former head coach under oath being asked about his duties on the job, and he would most likely have no qualms about any questions asked of him.

I wonder, by being an alcoholic under CA. law makes him disabled, does he get a disabled parking plate? And does he get a DWI when he uses it to park in the handicapped spaces?:birgits_giggle:

Regardless of the outcome of this lawsuit, Sarkisain has turned himself into plutonium by bringing it into court. There isn't a team in the FBS that would take a chance on hiring him now. It's one thing for a team to take a chance on a coach that's gone to rehab and come out clean and sober. It's another entirely for them to completely shy away from said coach because he went after the university like he's doing.

I hope he has a good investment plan because I don't believe he'll be coaching any time soon in the FBS.

Did they know he was an alcoholic when they hired him? If so did they then require he attend functions where alcohol was served and he was expected to imbibe? If so, then he'd might have a case by otherwise no.
