Alot of people get on Butch's case about his coach speak. I would much rather give money and/or have my kid play for the top buttoned coach speaking Butch than a guy that gets hammered at a donor banquet, one in which he's there to give a speech nonetheless. Jmo imo kfc bbq

How is it not a big deal, he did this while "on the job".

I know people get drunk, but how many do this while doing a public speaking engagement with their career on the line?

I say not a big deal meaning that 2 days from now no one will talk about this. The reason he was speaking was to excite the team and audience, and the crowd seemed excited-cheering. I, like you guys, have very little knowledge of the event but the article states that it is "festive".

Was he out of line? Yes, absolutely. The head football coach of a proud program can't do that. But was it a huge deal? No. He apologized and I assume that'll be the end of it.

And for those saying he should go to rehab... That is a bold statement considering we only see a very narrow window into the lives of coaches; exponentially so as Vol fans.

If you are a multi million dollar head football coach showing up drunk at a school sponsored event, you probably need some help.

He probably drank too much at the event. Doubt Sark's sitting at his house getting hammered at 4pm then showing up.

I know he is not the first and he wont be the last.
Suggesting rehab off one incident is insane.

I am still more offended by Sark for calling his AD in the Stanford game than I am this.

It's a big deal. You can't have your football coach get up and make an ass out of himself in front of donors, cheerleaders and the team. You hold your players to a certain standard and the coach has to live by that same standard. They should suspend him but they won't. If a player of legal drinking age had made a speech in this condition he would be punished..

Did he whine incessantly about being underpaid, too?:)

"We only have some tidbits of his antics via Twitter, but here are the key points that we can focus on.

Sarkisian was definitely drunk at the event and slurring his words during the speech. That's been confirmed by multiple sources at the party.
Sarkisian dropped an F-Bomb while introducing his team to the donors.
Sarkisian said that Oregon, Arizona State and Notre Dame all suck. Sark is 0-9 against Oregon and Arizona State and has always lost to the Ducks by three scores or more.
Sarkisian could not complete his speech and was pulled off stage by athletic director Pat Haden and John McKay Jr., son of former Trojan legend John McKay."

Kiffin never showed up drunk.

I'll give you one guess as to why she did that.

I give up. What could have possibly been the catalyst for her leaving?

BTW, if you say drinking, then you are a tool. They probably met each other while drinking somewhere, so she can't use that as an excuse.

I'm waiting for some other reason.

Agreed... No point in making that leap.

not credible but worth noting, UW posters on usc board when he was first hired warned them about his propensity to get lit and bang waitresses

also, i dont know many coaches who have expensed 40 shots of patron before 8:30 pm.
ther is enough evidence to warrant a deeper look into this mans drinking habits

Obviously it's been all over the local tv and radio shows out here this week. Most of the calls to suspend him or fire him are coming from within the USC alumni base. A lot of those people know his reputation and want to cut strings immediately and promote the offensive coordinator. Most doubt it will happen this close to the season though. By seeking treatment, it makes it harder for an employer to fire somebody. It's a way of protecting his job, salary and buyout.

All those people have to do is look at this and they will forget Sark even did that --

Other way around. Sark will have them wanting Kiffin back

Gary Pinkel's career seems to have survived his DWI (and very embarrassing video) because he wins. It might be sad but it's true, as long as USC wins this will be forgotten.
