It doesn't make a lot of difference who it is. They'll live in Homewood, their kids will go to schools there, swill go to church there, everybody that has an adminisdtrative job in the SEC lives there or around there. It's Bama on steroids country. The SEC office should not be in Birmingham, period it's the biggest small town Hooterville in the SEC.
Move it to Charlotte, NC...

Unbelievable the leader of such an incompetent bunch gets a better job.☹

That's how large corporations work on a daily basis. They're afraid to fire someone because they might get sued, so the only way to get rid of them is to promote them to another part of the company.

At a former company a co-worker and I used to point out who would be the next to be promoted. The younger guys thought we were nuts, but we were right about 80% of the time.

The Bama resident/fan ref that called the BS roughing the passing call on us this year is the odds on favorite to replace Bama Steve Shaw....

What! You mean Hubert Owens will be in charge? The one who only throws the yellow flag at a player with a big T on his helmet? The list of his infractions is limitless....

Saw on another forum where some were saying officiating is bad partly because of seemingly low pay, especially compared to coaches making millions-not to coach.
SEC refs make $800-$3000 per game. During the season apparently they spend roughly 30 hours a week preparing for the game, studying film, reviewing rules, etc.. During the off season they spend on average 20 hours a week studying and going to clinics on there own dime. Officiating is considered a part time job.

So my question is, should they be paid more and make it a full time job?
If they make $2000 a game and officiate in 15 games, that comes out to $30,000 a year. NFL refs make an average of $200,000 a year.

The NFL refs don't seem much better. Ticket price increase to fund full-time incompetence and pro-Gump corruption instead of part-time? I don't know if that's wise.
